This question is often right up there with the socialization question. We have been conditioned by society to think that we can only learn from an expert in their field, in an institute of learning. This way of learning, I am sure we have all experienced it, is awfully boring.
" Tell me and I'll forget, show me and I may remember, involve me and I'll understand." – Carl Orff
I do not know everything, nor do I ever claim to know everything. What I do have is an intimate knowledge about my children's strengths and weaknesses. I know how to get their attention and I am connected emotionally with them. When I cannot answer a question, I admit it, this humanizes me to my children. It opens the door of opportunity, go to the library, rent a DVD and search the internet. You are bound to know someone that could help, talk to friends. It is all about learning, growing and it is fantastic to do this as a family. So let me ask you this – Do you have books, internet, friends and access to a library? Are you dedicated, give your children attention, time, energy and love? If so, then not only are you a good mother but you have the qualifications that are needed to homeschool your children. You are after all the person who loves them the most and will do what it takes to help them succeed in life.
