"I wouldn't do the test. It's too risky! You two tried for five years to get pregnant and now you're wanting to throw it away?" Ian's mom said to Ian. After talking to Anthony about the test, Ian still found that he was having a difficult time deciding on what he should do. Anthony had told Ian that the decision was up to him since he was the one who was packing it, but that didn't make things any better for Ian.
"Whatever you feel is best for the baby is what you should do." Ian researched, cried, and thought long and hard about it, but he felt like he needed advice, but not just anyone's advice.
"I know it's risky, mom. But if I have this baby and it's special needs, shouldn't we figure it out now so Anthony and I could plan?" Ian's mom rubbed her son's back a little to comfort him.
"What would that change, Ian? Weather you and Anthony know about the possible special needs or not, it's still going to be born one way or the other. The only difference this test is going to make is weather or not you know about the condition of the baby." Ian thought about it for a minute.
"You're right Mom... A-And the odds are is that there's nothing wrong. That's what the doctor said..." Ian sniffled, wiping some tears away from his eyes.
"Oh honey..." His mom cooed, putting her hand on top of Ian's.
"No, no. I'm okay.... It's just.... Fresh." His mom nodded in sympathy, allowing Ian to have a moment. He then took in a deep breath. "I-... I'm not doing the test. It changes nothing. And if something is wrong, then Anthony and I will deal with it then." Ian's mom brought Ian into a tight hug and kissed his cheek.
"I think you're doing the right thing, sweetie." Ian sighed, hugging her back.
"I just need to try and forget about it. You know, let it go until it's born." His mom nodded.
"Shouldn't be too hard. You hardly ever did homework without a second thought of the consequences." She joked. Ian laughed.
"Yeah, but this is something more important than high school." Later that night, Ian was laying in his old childhood bed, talking to Anthony on the phone and looking at the sonogram photo he had brought with him. He couldn't help but stare at the little white glow on it's little heart as he spoke to Anthony.
"So you're okay with not doing the test?" Ian asked.
"If you think that is the best for you and the baby, then I'm totally fine with it. We'll just have to try and move on, I guess." Ian let out a breathy sigh.
"Yeah... I'll be at the airport around noon, okay?"
"Okay honey. See you then. I love you." Ian smiled.
"I love you too." Ian hung up with Anthony and snuggled into his bed sheets, trying his best to go to sleep, but he just couldn't. He kept thinking about the baby and the possibility of it being born with a special need. He then got curious and grabbed his phone, Googling various things that could happen if his child were born with something wrong with it. The more Ian scrolled, the more terrified he got. Would him and Anthony really be up for the challenge if the baby was special needs? Would they have to end Smosh just to take care of him or her? Would it be bad enough for them to be in wheelchair? Needless to say, Ian didn't sleep any that night. The next day, Ian was still being haunted by the thoughts, even when he was hugging his mom and dad goodbye. While he was on the plane back to LA, Ian couldn't help but notice a Mother playing peek-a-boo with her baby right across from Ian. The little girl looked at Ian and smiled really big, revealing her two little teeth. Ian waved at the girl and giggled.
"Hiya." He whispered. The little girl giggled, but Ian's thoughts were plagued with the little white spot yet again. He felt himself begin to cry a little, so he adverted his gaze to the window. "I can't handle this... I have to know. I have to take this test." Ian walked out of the terminal and was surprised to see Anthony waiting for him with a bouquet of red roses. Ian nearly ran to Anthony, hugging and kissing him.
"Miss me?" Anthony asked when he pulled away from Ian's lips. Ian didn't respond. "Ian?"
"I was up all night last night and I think we should take the test." Anthony gave a face of bewilderment, but continued to listen to Ian. "That way if something is wrong, we can research it, get the best doctors, figure out a plan, and... prepare ourselves." Anthony smiled down at his hubby and nodded.
"Okay. We'll do the test." Ian bit his lip nervously.
"R-Really? You're okay with it?"
"I'm okay with anything that you think is best for you and the baby because you two..." Anthony paused to place his hand on Ian's growing stomach. "Are my top priorities right now." Ian smiled and brought Anthony's lips into another kiss. As soon as they got home, Ian called and told Dr. Goodin his decision. He then scheduled Ian an appointment for later that week and told Ian that everything would be fine. Ian also called his mom and told her about the change in plans.
"Ian, sweetie. It's okay. I'm not mad. I just hope and pray that everything works out."
"Thanks, Mom." That night, Ian was still awake when Anthony came to bed late.
"Hey... I thought you went to bed two hours ago." Anthony whispered, getting into his spot next to Ian and pulling the covers up to his chest.
"I did, but I can't sleep." Anthony sighed a little and brought his hand to Ian's stomach, rubbing it in small, gentle, circles.
"You need to sleep, honey. You and the baby both need it." Ian sighed.
"I know, but I just... Can't." Anthony bit the inside of his jaw.
"Well, would it help if I hummed you a song?" Ian thought for a moment and nodded, snuggling closer into Anthony as he continued to rub Ian's belly. Anthony started humming Have You Ever Seen The Rain, one of Ian's favorite songs. Ian felt Anthony's chest vibrate lightly as he hummed, feeling himself being lulled by sensation and enjoying the sweet tone that Anthony hummed. Anthony might not be a great singer, but his humming skills were pretty great. After about five minutes, Ian was fast asleep. Anthony kissed his head and brushed some strands of hair out of his eyes. "Goodnight, baby." He whispered, falling asleep pretty quickly himself at the sound of Ian's soft snores.
