Life is but a dream

Mom hasn't changed except she's prettier which seems impossible and a lot dirtier.
"You look so grown up," She states "I hope I didn't cause you too much pain over the last two years." I'm speechless until I know what to say.

"YOU MADE ME START CUTTING! YOU MADE THE BULLYING WORSE!" I don't mean to scream but I don't fucking care. Dante tries to take my hand but I pull it away. Mom looks like she's been slapped but not because I yelled but because Dante had tried to hold my hand.

"Are you dating a vampire?" She looks pissed and I grab Dante's hand.

"No but if we figure another way out of me getting sacrificed, I will." I squeeze his hand for reassurance. He squeezes back.

"Signora Wolfe, dispiace ma dobbiamo andare." He starts walking and I follow. Mom doesn't follow us and I hear her start to cry. Then a single tear goes down my face and Dante wipes it away. "Get on my back and we will do some speeding. Some enjoy it."

"I don't have an opinion on it myself." I climb onto his back. Something doesn't seem right but I don't really think about it.

"What you said that if we figure a way out of getting you killed you would date me, did you mean it?"  Dante sounds nervous.

"No, I was just saying that," I say sarcastically and Dante seems to slump a little. "I was being sarcastic, Dante. Of course I meant." He stands taller and runs. I don't know how far we've run when something knocks me off his back. He turns around to be flung across the clearing we had entered and I look up to see...Lillian Young, Jake's mom. "Lillian, please tell me you're human."

"Sorry, love. I'm a vampire." She bares her fangs. "And I'm not an evil one. I just want to show you what could've happened if it wasn't for the vampires." Before I can do anything, she touches my forehead and I'm not there anymore. I'm in my house in a wedding dress.

"Jade, you okay?" Kat asks. She's wearing blue dress and is pregnant. Her and Blue finally got together. They got married last year, so did Bec and Jake. Now it's you and Kyle's turn. A voice in my head says and I notice my hair is back to its original colour, brown.

"Yeah, of course. Just nerves I guess." I reply and Ruby bounces into the room. My heart contracts, she looks sixteen years old and she runs over to me. She's also wearing a blue dress and hugs me. I hug her back and she pulls away.

"Kyle sent me to check for a runaway bride situation. I can't believe you and Kyle after all these years are getting married." Her grey eyes are shining and I try to remember how me and Kyle got together. At the Halloween dance, he kissed you and told you that you weren't hot but beautiful like a rose with thorns which he loved about you. You punched him and told him he was being very cheesy. Then you danced the rest of the night together. The door opens and Bec walks in holding a one year old. Her daughter Sophie, she was named after Bec's mom.

"Hey, it's time to get hitched. Ready?" She asks and I'm about to nod when I see someone behind her. He looks eighteen, he has black hair and almost black eyes. He stares at me mouthing wake up, Jade, wake up. His name is on the tip of my tongue, the world dissolves around me and him then I remember his name, Dante Romano. I open my eyes and he hugs me. I'm crying and Dante pulls away to wipe my tears away.

"What type of vampire was that?" I'm shaking and I want to curl into a ball for a while.

"It is called a wish vampire, it grants your heart's desire and drains your life away," He looks in pain and I notice Lillian's head in a tree. He killed his own kind for me. "What was your heart's desire and how did you get out?"

"The vampires not invading, having everyone happy and not being scared that I could lose them all," I look at him smiling slightly. "And I saw you, telling me to wake up, that's how I got out." I lean forward and kiss him. He pulls away and stands up holding out his hand. I take it and he pulls me up then throws me over his shoulder. He runs and we enter town. He sets me down and I cover my mouth. My home looks like Springfield in The Simpsons movie and I want to look for anyone I knew from before that night. Someone runs towards us and I know her. Charlie Wolfe, my cousin. She hugs me and I hug her back, remembering she had been in the school.

"Where have you been? Who else is alive?" Charlie asks after we stop hugging.

"The woods," I'm shocked that she barely changed over the last two years. "Ruby's still alive and my mom isn't actually dead." Charlie's eyes go wide and she gestures to follow her. I start to follow when Dante takes my arm and stops me.

"How much do you trust her?" Dante studies me and I give him a look.

"I trust her more than Kazimir," He nods and takes my hand as we jog to keep up with Charlie. "Do you think he'll actually wait?" He doesn't answer and Charlie stops in front of the old police station.

"This is where we all are," She does a secret knock. "I found Jade." The door opens to reveal a tall man with brown hair and a facial scar. Uncle Mark steps forward to hug me but I back away.

"I was in the car when you drove off the cliff, you died." I need the dead to stay dead for ten fucking minutes. He smiles showing his fangs as he shoots Dante in the stomach and jumps at me.
