Present Day

Giavanna:

It is 6 A.M. and Giavanna is already up, walking around her house with her eyes glued to the book in her hands.  She was peacefully reading in her room but was interrupted by one of her fathers men knocking at the door to inform her she was wanted in Angelo, her fathers', office.

She stops in the living room and looks around at the emptiness of it, folding the edge of the page she is on in the book to hold her place before she closes it. Her mother, Isabella, is usually here to greet her with a warm smile and a hug but she is nowhere to be found.

It is not completely unusual, it happens, Giavanna would just prefer to see her mothers smiling face before having to face her fathers scowling one. She runs her hand through her long black hair before she sighs and heads to her fathers' office.

I stop at his door and take a deep breath before I knock, I hear a familiar voice say enter on the other side, but I know it is not my fathers'. I enter to find my mother and immediately I feel a huge smile form on my face.

"Good Morning." I rush in and hug her letting out relived sigh to see her and not my father. He was not a pleasant man and though I loved him I feared him too. I spent most of my life obeying him as best as I could to avoid his anger, his wrath. In turn that resulted in me living a very sheltered life, compared to other twenty-one year olds out there.

While other ladies my age got the chance to go clubbing, date, work, socialize with others their age, all I could do was take care of the family business. That mostly consisted of threatening, torturing, and killing people.

Unfortunately ever since Joseph Zwon and I nearly killed each other I have not seen much action, the most exciting parts of my day lately are when I read and get the chance to speak with my mother in the mornings before she goes off to start her day.

"Why are you in here mom? Where is dad?" I pull away from her slightly so I can see her better.

"Your father got called into a meeting last minute late last night, he is apparently still in it and asked me to handle everything he was unable to cancel for today. He called a few minutes before I called you here. He wants you to meet him where he is. Your driver is ready to take you to him whenever you are."

She places a kiss on Giavanna's head who is now clearly thinking about what her father could possibly want from her. Her thoughts then cannoned into this said meeting her father was in, was it about her? Or did her father just want her opinion first before signing anything? He did that often knowing she was his heir.

She sits in a chair across from her fathers desk so lost her thought she can not see her mom waving her hand in front of her.

'You are doing it again bambina(baby girl)' my mothers words grasp my attention as I blink away from my thoughts and focus on her. "D-doing what again?" I listen as she explains the look I had in my eyes, Saying that the last time she saw this particular look on my face I was plotting out how to kill Jo.

She then begins to gush over how she always found him an attractive young man. "Oh god mom, stop!" I stand as a fowl taste forms within my mouth at the thought of Joseph Zwon.

If I were a young lady who only cared about looks, I might have agreed with my mother. Yet I was attracted to heart and personality over looks. I knew Jo, to a certain degree, I knew his heart was filled with violence and hate, I knew that some of it was directed towards me and that was just enough to make him an ugly man in my eyes.
