"Crona!" The last bell of the day rang and everyone was rushing out of the school. It was the end of the first day of high school. I had planned just to walk home and sulk, but on my way out I saw Crona at her locker packing up her things. I figured this was my chance to fix my mistakes. "Hey Crona!" I stood behind her as she placed multiple binders in her purple backpack.

"W-what is it K-kid?" Her tone of voice clearly proved that she was still upset with me. I looked down at my feet and frowned.

"I just wanted to apologize for getting off on the wrong foot this morning, I really like you and I just want to be your friend and-" I got cut off by two girls walking by. It was Kim and Jacqueline. The two most popular girls in school.

"Hey Crona, you know that party we invited you to?" Jacqueline spoke.

"Y-y-yeah...?"

"Well Jackie and I decide to un-invite you, that's okay with your right?" Kim gave off an evil smirk and looked Crona straight in the eyes making her uncomfortable. All Crona did was nod.

"All right, won't see you there then. Bye now Crona." Then they walked away.

"E-every time..." Crona muttered to herself zipping up her backpack and putting it on her back, and she left without another word.

"Crona?" I chased after her, "Crona, come here, Crona!" She ignored me the first couple times I called her name, but on the fifth call she whipped around tears forming in her eyes.

"What?!"

''Oh Crona..." I looked at her with sadness and sympathy as a tear rolled down her cheek. "Would you like to come to my house for a little party...?" I gave her a small smile.

"Thanks Kid, but I don't need your charity..." With that she walked away. Of course I wouldn't let her go far. I reached out and grabbed her wrist.

"Wait Crona..." I pulled a pen out of my bag and wrote my number down on her forearm. "In case you ever need someone to talk to..." She pulled away her hand and looked at it for a second before continuing down the hallway without a word. "Bye Crona!" I waved before turning around and walking towards the school's back exit and heading my way home.

I sighed and opened the front doors to my apartment complex and walked inside.

"Mr. Death?" The receptionist called out. I turned and walked over to her desk.

"Yes?"

''I have your mail for you." she said ducking down and grabbing an envelope from under the desk and handing it to me.

"Thank you." I then walked off and into the elevator to take me up to my room. Once inside the elevator I looked at the envelope. From Death City, Nevada. Just as I expected. Every month I get an anonymous check from Death City. I've tried googling that city numerous time but nothing ever comes up. The check always is enough to pay my rent. So I never had to worry about getting a job. The fact that I got these checks in the mail spooked me out at first. I like to think Liz, my internet friend sends them to me. I never asked her about it, of course. I do have the right to assume, though. I know she does live in Nevada, but that's it. She never told me the city or anything. I guess I'll never find out.

I sighed once again as the elevator door opened and I walked to my room. I fished my keys out of my pocket and unlocked the door revealing my small, yet tidy apartment. I closed the door behind me and plopped down on the couch still feeling depressed about what happened with Crona today.

Gosh...I love her too much...

I didn't notice until I felt wetness on my knees, but I began crying. Tear by tear. Rivers flown down my face.

She doesn't even know. My whole life revolves around her and now that I get the guts to actually talk to her for the first time, I find out she hates me. I messed up, big time.

I face planted into the couch cushions sobbing.

No. No Kid you can't give up. Persistence is key. Keep trying. Bake her cookies, buy her flowers. Find a way to convince her that I would treat her right. That I won't hurt her purposefully. Let her know that I care unlike everyone else...

I rolled off the couch onto the floor and layed there a few minutes sulking, and attempting to dry my eyes with my sleeves. Once my sleeves got to soggy to absorb anymore tears I got up to find Kleenex box somewhere. Once I found one and dried my eyes completely and sluggishly made my way to the couch and layed down on it. I pulled out my phone and looked up cat videos on YouTube. There's no better cure for tears then sterilizating one's brain with meaningless cats chasing their tail.

Minutes later I heard knocking on my front door causing me to jump and drop my phone my face. Strange. No one ever knocks on my door. I shrugged it off figuring it was just someone who got the wrong apartment number. I stood up and shuffled towards the door. My nose and eyes were still red and my eyes were puffy so I tried to hide my face behind the door.

"Hello may I-...Crona?!"
