Kid reached down and lifted my chin up so I was looking him in the eye. Eye contact. Something I try to avoid.

He cupped his hands around my cheek and used his thumbs to wipe away my tears.

"I'm sorry that I upset you," he said. "I never wanted to hurt you, I just wanted to point out for your own good that maybe you don't have friends that treat you well. I don't want you to be a doormat."

I sighed and climbed off of Kid and just sat next to him. "I-I know..."

"Can we be friends now...?" I nodded and reached over and gave him a hug.

"I'm sorry f-for the w-way I acted...I was s-scared..."

"Don't be scared, okay? If you are tell me, and I'll do anything and everything so you not."

"Is this how t-true f-f-friends are s-supposed to a-act...?" He frowned and pulled away from our hug and looked at me with a sad look.

"I wouldn't know. I don't have any friends either, but this is how I want to treat you." He gave a slight smile.

He's kinda cute...

"Are you hungry?" He perked up. "I assume you haven't ate dinner yet, I would be more then happy to cook you something. I haven't ate anything myself, so maybe I can cook us both some spaghetti or something?" I nodded and smiled.

"That'd be w-wonderful..." He reached out and took my hand and led me to the kitchen. He sat me down at the little table he has set up in there and walked towards a pantry and opens it.

"This is where you will find all you food and cooking needs. Oh and the fridge too." he paused and patted tall black fridge that was towering him. He pulled out a box of raw pasta and closed the pantry and opened the fridge and pulled out some sauce. "Over here is where you will find all the pots and pans." He walked over to a cupboard above the stove and opened it pulling out a pot to cook the spaghetti in. He gathered up a few more ingredients, giving me a tour of the kitchen before he turned on the stove and began cooking. I watched him cook for a while with a smile. my smile slowly started to fade.

Kim and Jacqueline never treated me like this. They knew I was at risk of losing my apartment. They never offered me a place to live. They knew the only food I could afford was the school's lunch and the only evidence of food in my apartment was the occasion pack of ramen noodle soup when I was lucky enough to find an extra dollar bill on the streets of New York City. They never cared to fix me a sandwich after school hours. They never took the time to give me  hug when I was crying. They never did anything for me...but here Kid is doing everything for me...

"Why?" I blurted out. Kid picked his head up from the spaghetti and looked at me.

"Hmm?"

"W-why?" I repeated. Quieter this time.

"Why What?" He put the spatula down and walked over to where I was sitting and gave me a concerned look.

"Why are y-you doing t-this?"

"Why am I taking care of you?" I nodded. "Because I care."

"W-why do y-y-you care?" A sigh escaped his lips and he shakes his head. "Aren't f-f-friends supposed to t-tell each other t-thing?"  I asked. He nodded. "Then tell m-me the truth, K-k-kid..."

" Umm..." He blushed profusely and I cocked my head to be side giving him my full attention. "Because I really like you..."

"I l-like you t-too though. Y-you're nice to me..."

"No I mean a different kind of like..."

"What o-other kind of l-like is t-t-there?"

"Like-like..."

"What does l-like-like mean...?" He muttered very softly, with more of a redness to his face as he looked down. He opened his mouth to answer my question, then the timer for the spaghetti went off. He went over to the stove and turned it off bringing to big bowl of spaghetti over to the table and went to the cupboard to pull out two cups and two plates to add to the table.

"What do you want to drink?" He asked.

"Just some milk..." He nodded and opened the fridge pulling out a jug of milk and poured us each a glass before he sat down across from me.

"Let's wait a couple minutes before we eat so the spaghetti can cool down."

"W-what does like-like m-mean?" I asked again craving the answer.

"Oh crap, I forgot the silverware..." he got up and walked over to a drawer and pulled out two forks handing me one before sitting down again.

"W-what does l-like-like mean?" I repeated myself.

"It's complicated..." He mumbled.

"H-how is it c-c-complicated?"

"It just is okay?!"

He yelled at me. I thought he cared. He said he did at least. I don't know how to deal with this...

I whimpered and stood up.

"Crona I'm so sorry I didn't-..."

I took one step back before I bolted. I couldn't leave his house otherwise I would have nowhere to go. And I can't hide under the blanket on the couch because he'll find me. I looked behind the couch to see a hallway with three doors. One has got to be the bathroom. I opened the first door to the right and sighed in relief seeing the shower and sink and slammed the door behind me locking it and sliding down to the floor, curling up into a ball.

All I did was ask a question. Why does everyone hate me so much? What have I done wrong? What have I done to deserve this?

"Crona! Crona! I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you, please come back out! Damn...I'm so so sorry! Please come out! Where are you!?" He called for me. Over and over again. I didn't say anything. I didn't want him to find me. Although, I accidentally let out a whimper causing him to find me in the bathroom. He walked over to the door and knocked on it. I didn't let him in.

He sighed.

"Listen Crona...I'm sorry I yelled at you, I really didn't mean too. I really don't want to make you feel bad Crona...I really don't at all...to be honest...Crona...I-I..well I..."

Is he stuttering? He's nervous?

He took another breath.

"like-like means to like more then a friend."  I Stayed silent.

"That means..."

He paused.

"I love you Crona!"
