The Gods Call Me And My Cousin

I was typing away on my iMac before Annabeth called me.

I was upstairs in our private apartment in Camp Jupiter, typing away on a story that i decided to write down about my life. It was pretty hard to begin with, considering that I've got dyslexia and all that. So I decided to write the story in Ancient Greek first so I could then be able to translate it to English lettering.

So, maybe I should tell you a bit about me: to most of you, you already know me. For those who don't know me, my name is Percy Jackson - the modern day son of Poseidon, the god of the sea. I've pretty much had a hard life as it is. I've faced down so many monsters it almost seems like a bad nightmare, but believe me it isn't a nightmare at all.

Several years ago, I received the truth about my godly parent and how a demigod like me is supposed to act against the enemies of the gods of Olympus. Even to this day, we still face those same enemies, but they no longer seemed to be as active as before. I knew the reason because of that - four years ago, we defeated Gaia and her army of giants and their armies of monsters coming out of Tartarus, the Pit of Damnation. Ever since then, the monsters and every other enemy of the gods have been too fearful of us to do anything to the gods.

I looked around my office, noticing every little detail of the place. The whole room was decorated with photos and awards that Annabeth received from her old college. In many of the photos, there were several people in a lot of them - one of them I particularly looked at frequently. In the photo, I was standing at front with my arms around Annabeth's waist and her head resting against my shoulder. At my side, Jason and Piper were smiling at the camera with Jason giving me a sideways glance. Hazel stood next to Frank, who looked as if he was trying to turn into a lion or something.

In one separate photo, was Leo Valdez - a friend we lost four years ago, while battling Gaia. I still couldn't believe he was gone. I was hoping he survived the explosion that took his life, and that he would get Calypso out of her phantom island. In a split second, I decided to put Leo's picture next to the the picture of the gang, so it looked like he was still part of our group.

"Percy," she called from downstairs. "I've got to tell you something."

I instantly stopped - whenever she wanted to tell me something, I instantly knew that it was important. I locked my computer down and went downstairs.

Annabeth was sitting at the coffee table, looking at her glass of water. When I came into the living room she looked at me, smiling slightly. She was wearing a white blouse which made her hair look more like sand; she wore denim shorts and was bare foot. Outside, it was sunny - it was the middle of spring and it was one of the warmest day's of the year (that made me wonder why I was wearing jeans and a black top). So why was Annabeth inside the house when she wanted to go outside and sunbathe in the light?

"What is it honey?" I asked her, coming over to the coffee table.

She looked at me for a few more seconds before finally standing up. She took both my hands.

"You remember when you said you wanted to start having a family with me?" she asked me with a smile.

I smiled at the memory. After moving over to Camp Jupiter, Annabeth and I had gotten a lot closer during our time here and we both agreed to start a family.

"I remember," I promised her. "Why, what is it?"

She just smiled. And then she started chuckling slightly. Looking down at the floor, she moved my right hand and placed it on her abdomen, where I could clearly feel that it was slightly bumpy.

"No way," I exclaimed. I looked at Annabeth, who continuously smiling at me. "Are you serious right now?"

She nodded, her eyes wide with excitement. "I'm four months pregnant Percy. I only just got found out with the pregnancy test kit. We're gonna be parents!"

I laughed with joy, wrapping my arms gently around her waist, while she wrapped her arms around my neck.

"Oh, gods," I told her happily. "It's really happening!"

Annabeth grabbed my face with both her hands and kissed me on the lips. She then pulled away and looked deeply into my eyes.

"You're gonna be a father," she whispered. "You're gonna be the best father."

I nodded whilst grinning at my girlfriend. "You have my word on that, Wise Girl."

===========

I don't remember waking up in the middle of the night.

Annabeth and I were in bed, but it was hard for me to sleep to the fact that I was so excited and happy about Annabeth being pregnant.

I can't believe that I'm officially saying it. My girlfriend is pregnant! I'm gonna be a dad!

Without waking my sleeping girlfriend, I slipped out of the room and went downstairs.

I went outside the house and was welcomed by the vastness of stars in the midnight sky. The night was cool here in Camp Jupiter, and the crickets were chirping carelessly. The camp was about half a mile away from the house, but I could easily see every part of it from this distance, mainly because our house was built on a small hill and had a good view of the place.

I sat down on the nearside bench and I just sat there for god knows how long. It wasn't a moment later, when the house phone rang. I ran up to the phone (the noise would've been enough to wake Annabeth up) and picked it up, ending the noise.

"Hello?" I asked quietly.

"Percy, why is your voice so low?" Jason's voice said through the phone.

"Hey, Jay. Haven't heard from you in a while. What's that all about?" It felt good to hear from my cousin and best friend. It had been a full two months since we last spoke, mainly because Jason and Piper were living at Camp Half-Blood on the other side of America. I always missed that place, because it was where I started training as a demigod.

"Good to hear from you too, pal," Jason said. "Percy, listen. I'm sorry to ring you this late at night, but I really needed to ring you."

I frowned. "Why, whats wrong?"

"The gods need both of us on Olympus," the son of Jupiter answered. "They said it's urgent for some reason."

The gods are calling for help again? They haven't asked for anything for years and now they decide that they need demigods to help them again? What is up with that?

"What do they want?" I asked Jason.

"They didn't say," my cousin answered.

"No surprise," I grumbled. I looked upstairs and checked inside the main bedroom. Annabeth was still sleeping contently on the bed, with one bare leg on top of the blankets and she was snoring slightly. Part of her face was covered by her curly blonde hair.

"Tell them I'll be there in a moment," I told Jason. "We got a direct link with Olympus here in Camp Jupiter as well."
