Red Riding Hook! (DT & the kids series)

Chapter 5

Suddenly, David realises that they're standing in the shadow of the large pirate ship. They hear rustling, drunken piratey laughter & clanging from the ship. "Early morning drinking games-one of Hook's fav sport, apart from slave hunting, of course!" Peter mutters. David gulps on hearing his comment. "Did u say...slave hunting?!" he asks, in fright. "Yeah, slaves to help out on the ship. I've heard that if they don't do the job right, they're used as bait...or fed to hungry sharks!" Peter replies. David shudders, not at his reply, but at the thundering voice that follows. "Ya heard right, boy!! An' I'll do the same to ya rascals!" Hook suddenly appears, sword drawn, hook polished, eyes red & voice filled with anger. Peter draws out his sword & orders the other to do the same,when he sees the drunk pirates approaching. "U people fight off those maggots & I'll take care of my good ol' friend, Hook!" Peter orders. They do as told & soon the clanging of swords & flying bullets can be heard & seen on the ship. David tosses a barrel of rum at a growling pirate, but misses & it hits another pirate behind him, before falling apart. The growling pirate glares at the spilt rum & then at David, before charging at him, exclaiming,"How dare u waste such delicious rum, ya scum!" He pins David against the mast of the ship. David can smell his hot drunken breath & scrunches up his face in disgust! The pirate grins, showing off his dirty decaying teeth, before pressing his gun on David's temple. A bead of sweat runs down David's temple. Suddenly, the pirate gasps & falls down, along with his gun, which David quickly picks up. There's a sword sticking out of the pirate's back. David looks up to see Ellie standing & grinning next to the corpse. "Man! We should take a selfie next to my first kill! Disgusting, yet tots awesome!!" she boasts,before David interrupts her with a hug. "My brave, fearless warrior!" he praises, before letting go. "I want ya to do somethin' for me. Hide! Take ur siblings & hide! Find a safe place, go!" he orders. She protests, but does as told when David insists. Later, he finds & unties Jeannette who'd been held captive aboard the ship.
