24 - Good vs Evil

As linked is the sun to the moon and the earth,

As close is the child to the mother after birth,

As war and strife go hand in hand,

Good without evil is no more than a plan.

For if good is to prevail, then without a doubt,

Some evil must hail, to be forged out,

For the greater good, as I have heard before,

That of value is lost, no little, no more.

But goodness may falter, or cease to exist,

If each man's good tidings prove to consist,

Of elements woeful to his neighbor's rise,

Soon the land would be tainted, brimming with lies.

This would wreak havoc, and unrest would follow,

Whose lives were once joyous, would now have sorrow,

Friend and foe could be the same man,

Flitting between, on will's command.

So what good is this, if it birthed evil instead,

And filled innocent hearts with veritable dread,

I'd rather have joy, however fleeting it may seem,

Than chase selfish good, and let evil spread its wings.
