Those who have insomnia,

Aren't too tired to sleep,

Its just that they have healing scars,

Which like mine, run too deep.

They've befriended the nightly hours,

So their mind can scream in peace,

A cascade of unwanted thoughts,

Keeps flooding without seize.

Sometimes it can get lonely,

When your companion is the night,

But it conceals the demons,

From the illuminating light.

And even if they feel drowsy,

To sleep, they wouldn't dare,

For when you sleep to avoid your monsters,

You wake up to a nightmare.
