I watched him leave the coffee shop. Right when he was about to close the door, he yelled, "I'll see you on Monday!"
I certainly didn't expect him to be like that. Maybe he wasn't as bad as the rumours say. For the rest of work, I had a slight smile on my face.
~~~~~
The weekend flew by rapidly and before I knew it, it was Monday. I despised Mondays. As I took a seat in chemistry, I saw a guy waving at me. He walked over and sat in the empty seat beside me.
"Good morning," Leo said energetically.
How could he be so cheerful in the morning? Especially on a Monday!
"Good morning," I murmured.
The class started and he was still sitting there. I guess he doesn't plan on moving anytime soon. Our teacher, Ms. Stell explained that we'll be doing an experiment today.
"Everyone, choose a partner and get started. After you're done, do the questions regarding the experiment." she instructed, handing out a piece of paper.
"Hey Lily, you want to be my partner?" Leo asked, already gathering the materials.
It doesn't seem that he'll take no as an answer.
"Sure," I nodded, grateful to finally have a partner for once.
"Leo, would you be my partner?" a girl requested.
"No, he's going to be MY partner!" another girl declared.
More and more girls started to fight over him. Wow, I always knew he was popular but this was on a totally different level.
"Sorry, but I'm already partners with Lily. Maybe another time?" he suggested, flashing an award winning smile.
The whole class started to chatter.
"No way, he's partners with her?"
"The new girl? The loner?"
"What if she's my partner? It has nothing to do with any of you," he said in a calm tone.
He defended me... No one has ever done that before.
I quietly said thanks and started working on the experiment. The rest of the class passed by quickly. We talked and realized that we had some similarities. For example, we both have a sibling, love to eat, and enjoy reading books. That's a good way to start our friendship. Wait, we are friends, right?
When the bell rang, he hurried out of class, saying a short goodbye. Curious to see where he was going in such a rush, I followed him down the hallways. That was obviously a bad idea, as I saw him making out with Alice. For a second, I forgot he was dating that monster. Well, they are a good match I guess...
As I stated before, they were both the most popular people in our school. Alice was the typical head cheerleader that you can find in movies, books, everywhere. With her long blonde hair and blue eyes, she was all the guy's ideal type. Well, for all the boys that doesn't care about a good personality, at least. Meanwhile, Leo was the captain of the basketball team. All the girls adored him and all the boys wanted to be him. Yes, so clichéd I know.
I quickly fled the scene and was walking to French, when I accidentally bumped into someone. I really need to stop doing that. We both apologized at the same time, which caused laughter. He had messy blonde hair and warm brown eyes. I had to admit, he was kinda cute. As I was busy thinking that, he picked up my binders and gave it to me. Now that's embarrassing.
"Sorry about that. I'm Daniel, what's your name?"
"My name's Lily, nice to meet you."
The obnoxious bell rang.
"Oh no, I'm going to be late. Maybe I'll see you again?" I said as I ran off.
When I arrived at French, my teacher glared at me.
"How nice of you to join us, Ms. Summers," she said sarcastically.
You have no idea how much I hated French. I hurriedly sat down and started taking notes. By the end of class, I was left with a piece of paper with scribbles and doodles all over it. I did not understand a single word of what she was said.
~~~~~
I was about to line up for lunch, when I heard someone yelling my name.
"Lily! Over here!"
I turned around to see Leo. What could he want? I slowly approached him.
"Here, you can line up with me," he declared, as if that's the nicest thing anyone could ever do.
"Thanks, I guess?" I said with a small smile.
A few minutes later, he bought a Caesar salad and a bottle of water. He sure doesn't eat much for someone who loves food.
"Oh this?" he asked, following my gaze.
"It's for Alice. She didn't want to line up so I bought it for her, I guess."
Of course. Who else would it be for?
"Leo, why are you talking to that loser?" a high, pitchy voice questioned.
I could recognize that irritating voice anywhere. It belonged to Alice.
