It's been a week since the incident in the cafeteria occurred. I haven't talked to Leo ever since. In a way, I was glad because it was less likely to see Alice. But, he was the first person I had a real conversation with, since coming to Winters High School. I might even say that I missed talking to him, which was ridiculous. I just met the guy, and he barely even remembers my name. Stop thinking about that, Lily. Focus on what the teacher is babbling about.
"Everyone, go into your groups and work on your English project," Mr. Fessen said.
Oh no, I totally forgot to think of an idea. I might not seem like it, but I actually care about my grades. After all, it does affect your future.
"So, what book should we study?" I questioned, praying that one of them did their work.
Ivory and Tristan shook their heads. Of course, what else did I expect?
"Okay, then let's just brainstorm for today and get started next class," I said.
They both nodded in agreement. In the end, we decided to search for easy books for seniors on Google.
Now that I spent a short amount of time with them, I noticed some resemblances between them. If you ask a simple question, they'll either nod or shake their heads. I guess Ivory and Tristan prefer not to talk, unless it's necessary. However, when they do speak, it's in a quiet voice. You have to really concentrate in order to understand what's being said. Other than that, they have bright red hair and olive green eyes. Barely visible freckles covered their cheeks, but only Ivory have glasses.A lightbulb flickered inside my head.
"Are you two twins?" I blurted.
Ivory's eyes widened in surprise.
"How'd you figure that out?" Tristan stared at me, intrigued.
"Well, both of you guys behave similarly. Not to mention, you also look alike."
"That's the first time anyone from school ever noticed," Ivory stated.
"Really? It's kind of obvious, once you're beside each other."
"I guess it's because we only talk amongst ourselves?" he suggested.
"That's true, we really should socialize more," she nodded.
"You're already talking to me," I said, smiling kindly. "That's a start."
~~~~~
My stomach growled at the sight of today's lunch. Today's special was a hamburger that looked like it was bought from McDonald's. It was $5, the lunch ladies charged me way too much.
As I was walking to an empty table, I saw Tristan and Ivory sitting by the windows.
"Hey, do you mind if I sit here?" I asked, looking down at the food covered floor.
Tristan looked up from his phone, shocked to see me.
"Sure, you're welcome to sit with us anytime," his sister chirped.
"I guess I'll be eating lunch with you two everyday then."
"That's fine by me and I'm sure Tristan agrees, right?" She playfully nudged him.
"Yeah," he said, taking a huge bite into his burger.
"You guys talk quite a lot," I blurted. "Sorry, I didn't mean that in a bad way."
"Yeah, I actually like talking, but I just can't speak to new people for some reason," Ivory explained.
"But-"
"Nope, we're already past the introductions, so it's easy to talk to you," she objected, reading my mind.
"The same thing applies to him," she said pointing to Tristan. "He just takes an extra long time getting used to someone.""I see. In my case, I can't find an opportunity to even talk to any of my classmates." I admitted.
"We're pretty much the socially awkward teenagers in those books and movies," Tristan joined in.
The three of us bursted into laughter at his joke.
"Unfortunately, that's actually very true," Ivory said, wiping away her tears, from giggling too much.
One more class left, then I can go home. I only have to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays so I didn't have to go to the cafe today.In business, all of us had to get a part time job. Apparently, we'll learn what's it like to live in the 'real world'. Luckily, I already have one, so there's really no difference. I don't have to print out a million resumes either. I know, I'm so eco friendly.
Class finally ended and I dashed out of the 50 year old school. Hopefully, I can catch the early bus. You have to wait at least 20 minutes, if you missed it. No one has time for that.
By the time I got to the bus stop, a line up was already formed. I silently counted all the heads. There should be around 30 of us here, the amount of people in my classes.
When the bus arrived, the line quickly disappeared. Everyone was rushing to get past the tiny door. It was the survival of the fittest. As usual, it was impossible to get in. It also doesn't help that I'm only 5'3. Feeling defeated, I slowly started to walk back to the wooden bench, by the bus stop.
A pair of strong hands held mine and pulled me towards the bus. The person was already inside. Just when I was about to scream for help, a pair of beautiful blue eyes caught my attention.
"Leo?" I asked in disbelief.
"Hey Lily, long time no see."
Hello, thanks for reading this chapter. Also, this book now has over 100 reads! Thank you! Let's try to get to 150! I'm sorry if it was a little boring but the story can't go too fast or else it would be extremely short.
Would you guys want longer chapters or is this amount good? I usually just end it, when I feel like it leaves a cliffhanger. Many other stories have super long parts, so should I try to fit more in mine?
