her eyes looked dead,
like a breath in the sea,
how could you not see it?
how could you let her be?
her eyes looked tired,
she had loved for too long,
all those people and places,
she'd never even gone.
her eyes looked sad,
for the words you failed to say.
and the things she never had,
when you'd gone and ran away.
her eyes looked stoic,
for she's seen so much.
from the heartbreak of a mother,
to the burning of a touch.
her eyes looked wise,
for she'd known all along,
that this world is a devil,
where there's no right for any wrong.
her eyes looked broken,
she's walks around with a cover,
of underneath is shattered pieces,
of every lying lover.
her eyes looked strong,
for she knows of her mistakes,
and now to the end of her time,
she'll beware of those she makes.
her eyes looked quiet,
like the scream of silence,
only those who hear what she can't say
know of her defiance.
