A Trip Into Town
Ingrid's POV
I don't pretend that my life is great, because it isn't. But I also don't pretend that it's the worst, because it isn't. There are plenty of people who have it worse than I do, living on Corasaunt, for example. The Imperial headquarters.
But I don't have it amazingly, if that's what you're thinking. I live in an abandoned shack on the outskirts of Lothal's capital city. The shack, as I like to call it, is exactly how it sounds. A shack. It's made of old, rotting wood. The door will barely close and the hinges are old and rusting. When you open and close it, it makes a loud squeaking.
Inside, there isn't much to see. It isn't very big, only large enough for a small mattress in the corner, a small wooden table (rickety table, at that), and matching chairs. By matching, I mean they're also really rickety chairs made of wood.
I sighed and got out of 'bed.' I stretched and stood up. I glanced around the shack, I hated living here, I hated living on this planet. There was nothing for me here.
I looked around, I needed to go into town and get some things, like food. I was starving. Well, not starving-starving, but I was hungry.
Making my way to the small bin that I have where I keep my weapons (my blaster, that's my only weapon, really), I grabbed my blaster from the bin and the threw my brown leather jacket and my black boots. I opened the door, it squeaked open.
I stepped outside and closed the door behind me, again, it made a squeaking noise. I headed over to my speeder, which I may or may not have stolen... well, the previous owner wasn't using it, so I thought I'd... take it off of their hands.
Without them knowing...
Anyway, I mounted the speeder and double checked to make sure my satchel was with me and then sped off towards town. The wind felt amazing against my face and the morning sun's warmth felt great too. I smiled and let out a sigh.
My life wasn't the best, but it was definitely okay.

I rode into town and saw Imperial stormtroopers standing guard around the square, which wasn't a surprise. I was honestly kind of annoyed with them, the Empire and their troopers. I parked 'my' speeder and dismounted it. I began to walk through the square.
I had some credits with me, but not many. I looked around. What did I want to eat for breakfast...? Probably just a fruit, something I could afford. I walked up to a fruit vendor and bought one of his fruits for three credits, I only had five credits total. "Thank you," I said to him. He nodded in reply.
I turned around and nearly ran into an Imperial trooper. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell he was scowling under his helmet.
"Watch where you're going, kid." He spat. Now, normally, I would have some sort of witty remark to throw back at him, but I held my tongue and nodded.
"Sorry, sir." I said. "I'll be extra careful from now on." I just couldn't help myself, could I?
"What was that?" The trooper turned back towards me. I didn't back down, I stood up straight and with my chin up.
"Why don't you watch where you're going." I replied. "I didn't do anything wrong. I swear, you bucket heads think that you're so scary. You can barely fire that blaster you've got there and you never hit your intended target. I'd watch my step if I were you."
Now I had done it. "Keep your mouth shut, kid, and maybe I won't blast you." I didn't hesitate.
"Even if I did say something else and you shot at me, you'd miss." I scoffed.
"You want to test that theory?" The Trooper replied, holding his blaster up.
Oh, great.
He fired at me, I easily dodged the blast. I grabbed my own blaster and fired back, hitting him in the leg. He doubled over in pain and yelled at the other troopers around: "Blast her!"
I turned and ran through the square, desperate to get back to my speeder. But when it was within sight, I could also see troopers blocking my path. I sighed and turned down an alleyway.
Again, shots were fired at me. But they missed. Of course. I turned around and shot back, hitting a few.
I've never actually killed a trooper before, just seriously injured. Killing isn't really my style.
How was I going to get myself out of this one? My speeder was a few streets back and I needed it if I was going to try to get back to the Shack. I turned a corner and hid behind a stack of crates. The troopers ran right passed me, thank goodness.
I peeked over the crates and looked around. No troopers. I let out a sigh of relief and slid down to the ground.
Of course, this moment of relief wasn't long. After about only five minutes, I heard a blaster click and a voice say: "Stand up slowly and drop your weapon."
A trooper.
I couldn't do anything but obey. I slowly stood up and handed him my blaster. He grabbed my arm and dragged me out from behind the crates.
"You are under arrest for attacks against the Galactic Empire." He said, sounding scripted. He dragged me out into the square where his friends were. Two of them grabbed my arms and forced them behind my back. "Take her away."
They began to drag me towards their ship. I was helpless, and no one was doing or saying anything.
3rd Person
"Tomorrow at high noon," one trooper said to another. "The girl known as Ingrid Krystal will be executed in the town square. Agent Kallus wants us to make an example of her."
"I'll gladly be the one to pull the trigger." The other trooper replied.
"Of course, but you know those Lothal Rebels? What if they start trouble?" The trooper asked.
"Then we'll stop them. Because she's going to die tomorrow, whether they like it or not."
[ta da!! First chapter! What do you think?
I'm trying to make the Empire seem a bit darker, you know? And executing Ingrid for just blasting them (what? That's a perfectly normal way for a 15 year old girl to behave) is pretty dark, wouldn't you say?]
