"Here, Pip!" I called to my border collie. Once she came we started walking down the path of Peterson's Park.

Pippa barked and and ran over to a teenage girl sitting on a bench. Her blonde hair draped over her shoulders that were covered by a black hoodie. Shesmiled at Pip as she started petting the top of the dog's head.

I walked over to the girl. "Sorry abiut my dog. She just lives making new friends!" I laughed.

"Thats alright," she said as she looked up at me. She had a hurt look on her face. As a mother, I knew that look all too well.

"Hey... are you ok?" I asked as I tucked my ginger haur behind one ear.

"I don't know," she answered as she lowered her eyes.

I sat down beside her and flattened my bkue dress against my legs. "Do you want to talk?" I asked. Sure, I didn't know this girl, but sometimes talking to a stranger was better than talking to a friend or family, because you would never see this person ever again.

"No."

"Do you mind if I talk?" She shook her head 'no' again. Pippa placed her head on the girl's lap as I said, " I have three step daughters at home. One of them is probably around your age. Her name is Margo. When she was fifteen, people were spreading rumors about her at school. She didn't tell anybody and had started cutting herself. She shut herself off from everybody. I eventually found out and we got her help. She's a lot happier now."

We sat in silence for a few minutes before I said. "Do you want to come home with me?"

The girl nodded and said, "Sure."

Pippa started wagging hed tail as we stood up.
