I walked up Tara's front steps that evening. Her mom had texted me asking me to come over for some reason.I rang the door bell amd her mom amswered. After I removed my shoes, I went straight to Tara's room.
"Knock, knock," I said as I poked my head into her bedroom. Tara was sitting in her bed, flicking her purple lighter on and off. She looked up at me and said 'hi'.
I went into her room and sat beside her. "How's it going?" I asked as I grabbed her hand and squeezed it.
"You already know how its going, don't you?" Tara questioned.
"Yeah..." I answered.
"C'mon," Tara said as she got up, and pulled me up with her. She grabbed a small bottle of perfume, a push pin, and twenty bucks from her wallet.
Once we left my girlfriend's house, I asked what the money was for.
"To pay someone to buy alcohol."
"Oh."
We walked to the Superstore and found some guy behind the liquor store. Tara walked up to him and started talking. About a minute later, he started walking around to the front of the store.
"Are you really doing this?" I asked.
"Yeah. I mean, I already payed the guy."
Oh my god. She is so stuck in her ways. Whenever she's upset, she runs to alcohol, or cutting, or smokes. Maybe even a little weed now and then. Now that I'm thinking about it, she's pretty messed up, and I've just been dealing with it all this time. And I've had enough.
"You know what, Tara? I can't do this anymore. I just can't. We're... over."
