The new girl

I couldn't get yesterday out of my head. That feeling when Luke told me I was dear to him meant a lot to me.

When I walked into the office Luke was chatting with 'the new girl' She was from another agent and I knew this because she once helped Eric out with paper work.

I don't like her. She is always so flirtatious and it discuss me how she talks with Luke and Eric.

Now Luke still didn't see me. To busy with Jane to greet me. So I grabbed a doughnut and went to sit on my chair behind the desk with the heap paper work on it.

When Luke finally saw me he said," A moment on the lips a life time around the hips."

Oh, how much I wish I could slap him now. 

And Jane..she began to giggle with her irritating voice.

So I just rolled my eyes at him and went on to eat my doughnut.

When I went up to see Eric and to ask him for help on paper work. She was there. She is everywhere.

"Oh, I see you're busy. I'll just come back when you are done."

Busy with what ? I thought.

I stormed out of his office and went to sleep on a couch. I was so tired...of everything.

"Wake up sleepy pants!" Luke joked.

"No, leave me alone."

"That's not how I do things."

I jumped up hearing this words,looking straight into his perfect face.

No, I'm mad at him.

"Well, certainly that is not how you've done things this morning." I said with a tight voice.

"This morning? What did I then do?" He asked.

"This morning you didn't even greet me or talk with me. All you could see and hear was Jane." I said. Tears almost coming.

"Riley, stop it! Jane is just a friend. Just like you.".

Wow, that broke my heart.

"Just like me?" I asked. Now the tears was welling up.

"Aren't I more? ..I mean you know me like...eight years now."

With that I stormed out of the room.

I had to think.

Alone.

"New mission!" Eric yelled from up stairs. I ran quickly up stairs and then I almost fell.

Great. I thought , another embarrassment in front of Luke. First this morning and then now.

When we entered Eric's office there was a big photo of a guy with long brown hair on the screen.

"This guy" Eric began.

"Named Robert Sony, killed a man this afternoon at Wicked beach."

"Well that says it all." I mumbled.

"You know what to do."

The beach was fully packed with people.

"It isn't gonna be easy to find him here. That's for certain." Luke said , looking at me.

"Mm.." That is all I could manage.

"Listen Riley. About this morning. I'm sorry. I guess...it hurt me when you talked about Jane that way. Because..I would never go for her...she's so ..fake. You know?"

That made me laugh. The way he said it.

"Luke it's just-"

"There he is." Luke said pointing to Robert Sony.

He was eating an ice-cream on a bench nearby.

Luke began to laugh. And I decided I'll go do my charm on this guy.

"Where are you going." Luke asked watching me.

"Watch and learn." I said.

"Riley-"

To late. I slammed my door shut and walked over to Robert.

"Hi there" I said. While touching my hair.

"Oh..hello."

Ugh..this guy is so disgusting.

"Listen-"

Just then Luke came walking up. His badge showing behind his jacket.

Then Robert threw the ice-cream in Luke's face and began to run.

"Shit. Luke. Really. Smooth move." I said with anger in my voice.

But still I began to laugh when I saw his face.

"Well there he goes. How are we going to explain this to Nel?"

Nel is our boss. Total control freak and so unfriendly.

"You can do that bit." Luke said while wiping the ice-cream off his face.

"Sorry Luke, that's your job!"

I ran to the car, climbed in, locked it and drove.

"Riley!!!"
