The Spy Ops

Back to work

Back at work there were piles of paperwork on my desk. "Here is always something to do." I murmured to no one in particular.  I opened the one and only envelope on the heap of papers. When I started reading it,it was obvious that this is a serious opportunity. Just then Luke came in. "Looks like you have serious news." 

As he said that I looked to his side and saw the very same envelope on his table. Luke followed my eyes and gasped.

Not even a second then he opened it.

"What is this about?" Luke wondered out loud.

"A very serious spy job." I told him with enthusiasm in my voice. I love spy jobs it's the best. I can then take lots pictures of the so called "Oppie"and follow him everywhere. My dad used to call the person who is spied on an "Oppie".

"Riley are you going?" Luke asked with that sounded like a little regret. He know how much I love spy work and would never put something aside for it. Unlike him. But he has a serious reason why he is not going to go.

"Of course!" I exclaimed, maybe a little too loud.

Up at Eric's I always feel excited. He has this thing about him if one enter his office. And that is that you must smile and look happy. And after the news in the envelope I was more than happy.

"Oh , you look out of your skin." Eric said with a big smile on his face.

"Yay, I am. Except for the heaps of paper work. We got an envelope..."

"We?"

"Ya, me and Luke."

"Oh. Sure."

"Ok, so we are invited or asked to do a spy job."

Just then Eric's smile faded and he went on with his work.

Two months back Luke and I went on a spy mission and it didn't went so smooth. I was shot in the arm and couldn't do anything for 3 weeks with my arm. Luke said we won't go on a spy mission if my arm isn't healed completely. And the problem is that it isn't. Eric was shocked and didn't even want to see me when I was in hospital.

Now I said, "Eric it is still like 3 weeks before we go. And Luke obviously didn't say yes."

"Well good. Riley, you were shot. It isn't a normal thing and then just to go on with your live?!"

I was fed up with people saying this to me. So I turned around and walked out of the not-so-happy atmosphere.

Back at my office I began to cry. I thought Eric would be happy for me and that Luke will say yes to go on the mission. But obviously it isn't something to forget so quickly.

So I wiped away my tears and started to think.
