The Spy Ops

The day after

Ahhh I do not want to go to work.
I don't think I can look Eric or Luke in the eye.

...but I am so glad that Luke is feeling the same about me. I really like him, but ...I don't think it is going to work.
I mean we are work partners.

Eric really didn't know that I like Luke. If he would ask me a few years back I would lie and say 'no'

So once again I had to do what I did best and that was..to think.

Now I was sitting on the beach. The wind icey and cold just like my mood.

I called Nel this morning and told her that I felt sick and that I would be late.- I had to come up with an idea.

I really like my job but today is not a day to compromise.

"Hey" a voice said suddenly.
It was Jane. Really? Why her? How did she know that I was here?

"Hi" I replied. Getting up to sit.
"Can I join you?"
"Yep" noooooo I thought.

"Riley I know you don't like me. I can tell"

Really, is it that obvious?

"Well anyway. Listen I didn't come here to irritate you even more or to play Dolly the sheep."
What- whose Dolly?

"Our agentcy sort of have a problem. We lost two of our agents yesterday when we went undercover for a mission."
Then a tear rolled down her cheeck.
"I'm sorry." I said sympathetically.

She shook her haid to earase the thought.

"Well anyways we were wondering if you and Luke could help us out for three days. Just so that-"

"Listen Jane, I'm sorry but you have to talk with Nel about this. I'm not the one to make that desicion."

"Nel said I must talk to you."
Great I thought. Just great.

"Umm well. Let me first talk to Luke about it. Okay?"

"Sure." She said standing up.
Then she smiled and walked away.

"Luke!" I said cheerfully coming into the office.
"Hey" He said. He was busy on his computar and didn't look up.

"You sound like the death" I joked.
"Well sorry for not sounding ALIVE." He said still not loiking up.

"Whatever. Listen Jane wants us to go help their agentcy for at least three days." Now he looked up.

"Why?"
Just then Eric yelled from upstairs. ". New mission! A big one this time."

Just as we entered Eric's office we saw that Nel was standing next to Eric.
This obviously meant that something huge was going on.

"So Luke and Riley. You heard that Jane and their team wanted you two to help out. But it is not possible. "

Yes. That meant that we didn't have to work with Jane.

"I didn't know about the whole help-out-thing with Jane and them."

"Well it doesn't matter. We can't help them."

Yess.

Then Nel nodded to Eric.

Suddenly there were like hundreds of pictures on the screen. It was a whole gang of guys.

"There's it." Eric said with a funny voice ponting to the screen.
Then my confused expression changed into a smile.
I could feel Luke's eyes on me every now and then.

"As you heard". He went on.
"This is a very big mission. So that is why we are going undercover."

"Wait. We?" I asked confused.

"Well Nel decided that I must do it with you guys."

"Eric you've never been in the field yet!". I exclaimed.
I could feel that everyone was watching me now.

"Riley you'll be happy he is going to do this with you. You would need him and he obviously you."

"But what if-"
"But what if nothing." Nel finished.
"Go on Eric." Nel gestered.

I was pissed.

"This is a gang of killers that are going in and out the Royal Hotel. Their mission is to get all the private software of the Hotel.
And our mission is to 'join their team' and to find out everything."

"Lets do it!" Luke said looking at me.
Why was he now lookimg at me? And really talking to me?

Then Luke and I went down stairs to make ready for this mission.
