Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) heard someone praising another and exaggerating in his praise. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "You have ruined or cut the man's back (by praising him so much).

Praising one excessively increases or kindles arrogance in ones heart. Keyword = EXCESSIVELY
