Zombie fact
To zombies damage is permanent. They do not have regenerating powers as their cells are already dead which explains their horrifying appearances.
                            ---------------------

I didn't know how to take the news. My left leg gone. I imagined myself , using crouches , with only one leg as support. I felt my left thigh imagining a raw stump instead. It really creeped me out.

" You don't have to do that Cadence."

I looked at my open palms.

They  shivered slightly. It seemed involuntary though.

" No."

I  put on a brave face but inside I knew the fear,
but I didn't want to scare Nathan. I wanted to show him his girlfriend is capable of standing on her own.

" He's right. The...the faster the better," stammered Caleb.

Nathan nodded and got up.

" Give me a second."

He muttered as started to climb upstairs. He paused and turned.

"Call me if something happens." He looked at me with his brow raised. " Don't try to act heroic."

I smiled and rolled my eyes. He chuckled and went upstairs.

Beautiful curls of smoke wafted through the air in no time. Saliva ran through my mouth moistening every part of my mouth.

"That's my call!" said Caleb triumphed, and ran to the kitchen.

I hadn't eaten anything for centuries! My stomach growled and gnawed my sides demanding the source of the smell. Caleb came out smiling like a kid who had  just opened his Christmas presents.

"It's almost ready! I even added a touch of almond."

"I can smell it already" I said.

"Reminds me of home".

" You know what. I know an exact place to eat our pies." He said rubbing his hands together.

" Lead the way then". I said getting up.

Caleb helped me upstairs to a dimly lit corridor .Despite the fear and silence the house smelled of wealth. A golden chandelier hung in the middle of the corridor spreading its light through the many diamonds it was made up of. The floor was of smooth white marble, which was so clear that I could see my self on it. Five doors on both of my sides, made of mahogany wood, faced each other uniformly. I ran my hand on the rough stony walls as we reached the end of the corridor that was encased with a pair of clear glass  doors. Caleb pushed it open and gave me a mocking bow.

" Ladies first."

I laughed as he reminded me vaguely of someone and then my laugh died in
my throat.

" Wow." Was the word.

A huge balcony tiled with wood led to a pool with a side arranged with deck chairs. But that wasn't the thing that took my breath away. One would pass out when they level their eyes to the sky to find a million stars twinkling away. A round white moon smiled down at me . I stumble forward holding the rails, my mouth open. I could almost feel them talking to me, trying to twinkle their message out to me and I understood it very well. They shone out only one word. Hope. I heard Caleb chuckling to himself.

"My Dad built this when they finished the house, right when I started to go to college. Apparently they forgot to add it to the construction plan. God, you should have seen how pissed he was."

Caleb gazed at the stars and shook his head.

" After that life was really good. We used to come here every night and figure out the stars and the constellations. I even used to bake cookies ,so we could eat them  while we looked at the stars. Father and son only."

He sighed.

"Sometimes life just doesn't cooperate with you, I mean you can definitely understand it and it makes you happy and all that but then suddenly it's too bored and it starts to play with you. It twists and turns and then finally you are so fucking fed up you want to.. give up."

I could relate to what he said.

" Yea, life is just one big roller coaster that is controlled by life itself. It can make us go faster and kill us or if it decides to be kind ,it can slow us down." I said and  looked at him and held his hand, surprising he didn't shake away.

I could feel a deep connection with him. I couldn't call it love, but it was something more than that. Urrggggg amnesia!

He was definitely a loner. All he needed was more friends. His father was no better. I had noticed the tension between them when I woke up. And I quite admit I felt quite jealous about him ,that he still had a father alive, to love him but... When I noticed the space between them...it made me feel guilty.

" You know what I do, I try to enjoy those slow moments. Like now."

He smiled slightly and stepped back.

"Well, I'll go check on the pie then". He shoved his hands in his pockets and strode off.

I sat rather unceremoniously on a deck chair and leaned back ,watching the stars, trying to forget everything. It was extremely peacefully and silent. The only noise I could hear was the chirping of the crickets. Just in time to spoil my peaceful state of my mind, my motherfucking leg started to throb again. I strained to get up. My throat went dry and parched. I was so hungry my tummy started to hurt. I want to something salty, something metallic, I wanted blood.

"Urrggg", groaned.

The pain was unbearable. I came back to my senses when I heard a scream. I started to crawl towards the door, and pushed it, blind with pain. Nathan came just in time to spot me and helped me up.

" What happened?" He said.

I shrugged slightly drowning in the pain and then we both dashed downstairs as fast as my leg could carry. He pulled me to the kitchen where the scream had bellowed from.

"Please God, not Caleb. Let it not be Caleb". I muttered absent mindedly.

We arrived just in time to find Caleb and his father, facing each other. His father had something shiny in his hand, long and metallic.

" Dad. No. "

Caleb said in a soft voice." Give it back".

" Mr Thorn! Drop it!" Nathan shouted.

Dr Thorn stood there , tears streaming from his eyes.

"I am so s-sorry Caleb, I was never a good dad, please forgive me."

"Dad No!" Caleb cried.

Nathan ran in to help, leaving me fall on the ground. My eyes focused on the floor as I heard a sicking thud and closed my eyes when warm liquid splattered on my face. I heard Caleb howl, as I felt the liquid from my face dripping on the floor, staining the white marble red.
