I started blankly at her face and as if automatically my eyes swelled up with tears. No. I am not crying, not in front of them. I closed me eyes , biting my lip.

" Please, can I be alone for some time?".
My voice was shaky and as brittle as glass.

The kind lady nodded and got up to leave but the he didn't , and I didn't feel like telling him to. Once she left he spoke.

"So you don't remember anything, huh?"

I shook my head.

" Well let me fill you in then."

He got up from the stool and sat at the end of my bed, his thigh touching my right leg. I shivered slightly and stared at the grey and bland blanket, trying not to look flushed.

"If you noticed, a few months ago a vaccine had been created for Mortiferum. Apparently the doctors did not certify or test it.

" Caddy, check this out" .

Lily shoved a sheet of news paper into my lunch.

"God Lily! Won't you let me eat peacefully? I mumbled, pushing the paper away but the bold headline caught my eye -COULD THIS BE THE SOLUTION FOR AMERICA'S DEADLY DISEASE?

I shook my head and focused on his words, but my heart was beating very fast .

"And the people seeing the ads started going crazy for it especially since it sold cheap as shit.

" Wait" I interrupted.

" How can the government allow the people to just buy random medicine that hasn't been proven? That's impractical. They are surely not that dumb.."

" Well that's what you think, ", he smirked.

He looked extremely cute when he smiled. I wonder if he realized that though. His face  changed instantly , as he got up and walked towards the window, looking out with an expression of desperate hope.

"The disease would have killed all of us anyway. It was like the Black Death all over again. But this was the slower way, and the people chose it."

"We were the only ones to escape. There were others but...". He shrugged absent mindedly  at the scenery , through the window." The world is in great danger Cadence".

He looked at me and then to my leg. It's was not sadness. It was pity.

"Don't try escaping, I know this is a bit of a surprise, but let it sink in. Nothing is going to change."

Then abruptly he walked out of the door banging the door hard behind him . I hate change. That is when something struck me. How the fucking hell did he know my name? And did he know about my leg? Did we meet before? These questions buzzed around my head like a swarm of mosquitoes craving for blood. And all I did was cover my head with the blanket and cried myself to death.
