Zombie fact
To recognise: zombies may have the trademark limp due to disintegration of their bodies, but additionally rigour mortis would cause damage to the tissues and muscle of the zombie.

I blinked open my eyes and tried to move. My head was cushioned on some thing soft. So many faces of odd shapes peered down at me making me shrink. Using my hand I pushed myself up and rubbed my eyes to make them clear. Now those many faces became three. I stared at the two unfamiliar ones. A man and a boy. They studied me as if I was an interesting animal. He was of my age and had almost similar features of the man. This brought me to the conclusion that he was his son. But something felt wrong. The atmosphere was as thick as a chocolate cake. I could have sliced it.

Nathan clasped his fingers into mine, bringing me back to my senses, The warmth calming me down. Then the boy broke the ice.

" Would you like some water?"

I nodded slightly in response and he got up and disappeared behind the door. The door Nathan disappeared into. The man knelt down and rolled up my pant to see my wound.I could feel Nathan tense near me, his hand squeezed my fingers ,that I tried hard not to wince when I looked at my leg. Surprisingly it didn't hurt. My leg was now a vestigial part of me. Looking at it made me feel weird. I almost felt...hungry.

"Are you a doctor?" I asked the man who was silently bandaging my leg.

He shrugged.

"Well you could call me that".
"Actually I am a scientist". He said, looking up.

" Oh." I was impressed.

It sounds dumb but I have always admired scientists. They were the ones who invented the impossible. They were the ones who changed and impacted the world, changing it into some thing new. For that I admired them.

" That sounds great. So have you been working on something lately? Before all this happened?

It was a small conversation I tried to bring up. Ignore the throb Cadence.

" Well, since the apocalypse started, business hasn't been going well.."

Next to me Nathan scoffed . The doctor wiped at his brow with a shaky finger , and immediately  diverted his view when the boy came in with a tall glass of crystal clear water.  It was a beauty.

I accepted it with a small thank you and a smile, which he returned back. I sipped it as we discussed what we were to do now to survive. Caleb, so  I heard, said he had contacts with a friend of his who owns a plane.

" your friend would probably be dead by now." Nathan stated out.

" I understand that but the plane still survives right? We could still use the plane. Anyway."
He crossed his legs.

"zombies can't fly."

"Yea, they don't fly", Nathan said . "but what would we do after we get on the plane? Where would we go?"

The question echoed around the room. Where would we go? We were trapped in a huge crowd of flesh eating zombies.

" Let's just stay here for the night" the Doctor muttered as he got up hurriedly.

"I'll get the blankets and extra pillows. It's only better if we stick together in one place."

Then it was only the three of us.

"Where were you guys and how did you find yourselves here? "asked Caleb in a surprised tone. So he didn't like awkward silences.

"Well.."

The memory made my nauseous. Nathan helped me by starting and ending the story in a quick 5 minute narration. Caleb was silent the whole time, playing with his shoe lace.

" I'm going to clear my mind for sometime from this zombie shit." He said getting up

"Hey I'm making some key lime pie, do you want some?"

Nathan looked up and grinned." Dude.." .

Caleb looked at the floor and ran his hand through his brown messy hair.
I punched him in the stomach playfully.

"Nathan don't be mean!".

" No , I was just going to  saying, I would love some."

Though I could see his lips twitching. A very red Caleb disappeared into the kitchen. So this is where the smell came from.

" I don't feel hungry or thirsty at all now days ". He said looking at my leg in deep thought.

" It's just survival, like you would never know when your expiry date is and It just happens and then Bam! your dead."

" Yea". I smiled.

" We're going to die anyway, and promise me", he was serious.
"When the time comes and I tell you to escape, you should."

I didn't answer. It was  like he was  coming up with a plan in his head.

"So how do you make this... key lime pie?"

" it's quite simple actually-" he started.

I didn't hear. Everything seemed so simple in life now.

My stomach was intervening with my mind. All sorts of food with flavores that made my mouth water, floated everywhere, making me dizzy.

" We were talking when you were asleep." Nathan said, suddenly as he seated himself next to me.

More like dying in pain, ah that roasted chicken looks so good.

"Dr. Thorn said it was necessary to do it now otherwise things could get complicated. But I did ask if there was an alternative option but.."

" Frost" I stopped him. The food disappeared.

Beads of sweat trickled from his forehead.

"Oh Cady! you don't have to do it."

" What, Nathan ?" I asked, while he fidgeted.

He looked at me sadly.

"Cut your leg."
