I guess you could say the end of the year was fine after my evil aunt got fired and Dumbledore took back Hogwarts. Before I could actually go and pack the last bit of my things (which is very little, may I add) Dumbledore got a first year to come up to me to request me there before I could go fold my underwear.
I walked to his office, Harry walking down and stopped. Like he was frozen. And stared into my striking blue eyes with his shocking emerald ones. We stood there for a moment just staring into each others eyes, sadness and lost in our eyes. "Dawn...I..." Harry says trying to break the silence. I just shook my head silently and broke eye content and walked up the spiral staircase, not even glancing at the teenage boy who I knew was staring at me the whole way up. I eventually heard footsteps echoing off the wall knowing Harry has walked away.
I looked at the wooden door in front of me before looking down to my hands twisting my fingers for a minute trying to strike up the courage to actually knock and go in. I'm afraid another person I know will be gone, I've lost too much in my life I can't lose another. Like I did for Sirius.
I close my eyes for a moment going back to memory's I've had for my Uncle, how kind he's been for me, how I could see the happiness in his eyes whenever I'd speak to him or anyone, whenever he'd see me or Harry. I felt like my heart got torn into more smaller pieces by thinking of Uncle Sirius. I blinked back tears that were starting to form and knocked on the wooden door softly.
"Come in." said the fragile voice of our Headmaster.
I open the door slowly and look into the brightly lit room, nic-nac's all over shelfs, desks, and some on his desk. The old beautiful Phoenix perched on a piece of wood staring at me singing a soft song to himself. I eventually move my eyes to look at the headmaster who was sitting at his desk calmly, his blue eyes sparkling behind his half moon glasses, the faintest smile I've ever seen behind his long white beard. "Hello, Dawn." Dumbledore greeted me calmly as I close the door behind me.
"Hello, Professor. You wanted me?" I say moving over to stand in front of his desk.
"Yes, I did. Please sit down." He offered gesturing towards a chair next to me that I didn't notice. I place myself swiftly on the chair and stare blankly towards the Professor waiting to see why he has called me here. "It's been a tough year on you, Dawn, and with the death of your new guardian ---" he paused seeing my eyes glaze over with tears, frowning slightly. "Dawn, I know what it's like to lose someone."
"No." I say, my voice shaking with sorrow slightly. "You've never lost anyone before."
"You'll be surprised." Dumbledore said, a small chuckle leaving his lips."I'm 113 years old, I've dealt with some loss."
I felt a lot of shame wash over me as my cheeks burned. "Sorry..." I say shifting in my seat. "I...I haven't been myself lately."
He nodded as like he accepts my apology. "I understand. But you must understand, Dawn, you have 2 choices. To live in the Black House as your mother was the sister of Sirius Black, or to go back to your Adoptive Parents house." He gave me the options as my mind went blank.
To Sirius' place...or going to (most-likely) pissed off adoptive mother.
After telling Dumbledore my choice he let me leave his office to go get onto the train back home. I grab my trunk and Cathy, holding her in my arms, and dragged the Trunk behind me all the way out from Hogsmeade to the platform where the Hogwarts Express was waiting for all of us. I passed Harry on the way, he tried to get my attention, but I ignored him and just walked right on by.
