I walked out of the room,(people were in there...) and did a celebratory dance in the hallway, and then I realized, on New Who, a companion has never actually died, sure there were the Ponds, but they lived, then they died, Clara's death was literally watched by the doctor, he heard her screams, he watched her soul be released with her final breath, then was teleported away! I loved watching that pain in Rigsy and the Doctor, their faces go slack, and the grafitied TARDIS looked amazing, it even supplied a picture of Clara to throw darts at!
But, let's be real here, that exit was dramatic, everyone thinking the doctor would save her in her final minute, Ashildr would somehow stop the raven, but no, their conversation was really their last, and all because Clara wanted to be like the doctor, to show she could put herself at risk as well, to show the doctor how "brave" she could be, well that blew up in her face!
Because of the teleport, The Doctor can't go straight to morning Clara, which is good, we don't want to see the dark side of the doctor again, but what of the next companion?
Well, I thought Rigsy might come along for a ride, but since he has a wife and a new human, that won't happen, it's possible the next companion will be introduced during Hell Bent, or possibly, in this years Christmas episode, River stays a bit longer than usual.
But that doesn't matter right now, we will have to trust Moffat not to come out with a terrible new companion!
