I fall down on my bed, my eyes closed. I listen to the song 'When we were young' by Adele. The blissful sound of got interrupted by a roar of an engine. I lift myself up and walk to the window. Looking down I see a moving truck and a family of three walking out. Its two parents and what seems like a guy about my age. From a distance let me tell you, he looks like freaking hot. Wonder how he looks like up close. Hey don't judge me, this is so far the only normal thing that has happened to me the past couple of months. Let me live.
The guy jogs inside the house, probably to find his room. I sigh once he is out of sight and go through the stuff on my desk. Underneath my dream journal I find my song book. I thought I lost this. I flip through it and see one of my favourite songs. I grab my phone and look for the back track of it. I grab my headphones, putting it on I start to sing it.
You were there
I was here
You needed someone
I would be there
You didn't see me, but I saw you
You could leave
I could never
you should know that by now
one day, one day you will see me
and you will see what you did to me
One day you will say you miss me
I miss you too
one day you will see me
and I will be happy in your eyesI got interuppted by a slow clapping. Lifting my head I see the one and only Parker. Of course he would be the neighbour. I take back what I said before, his ugly personality covers up his amazing body and face. My scowl is soon replaced by a smirk realizing something.
"well then look who it is. I thought you said you don't stalk people like me", I ask crossing my arms across my chest.
"oh you wish I'd stalk you", he replied smirking. I scoff at his words
"I think it's the other way around", I replied.
"I think you already are"
"If only you'd wake up from your dream, cause that only happens in dreams"
"oh feisty, I might consider taking back what I said"
"really?", I replied flatly, raising both my eyebrows
"no", he winked. I rolled my eyes and closed the curtains. I hearing music pounding from down stairs. I run down stairs and go to my moms bedroom.
Walking in Nancy is sitting at her make up table staring into the mirror, back facing Nicole. "MOM CAN YOU TURN THAT DOWN ", I shout over the loud music. The music still on, I walk over to her, staring into the mirror in front of Nancy, I look carefully and I see something out of the ordinary. In the corner of the mirror its a music box. Walking over to it and closing it. The music stops. Turning around and find my mother is lying on the floor. I run to her. "MOM, Are you okay?', I ask worried. "Call.... 9...1.... 1" Nancy whispers. Shaking; I look for my phone; unable to find it I runs to my room and take it, rushing back to my mom while dialing 911. As I reach Nancy's bedroom I find that my mom is busy dancing to the music that somehow started playing again. "911 how may I help you...halloo", a female voice says through my phone. "I'm sorry it was a false alarm", I speak into the phone and end the call, staring at my mom. While dancing my mom sees me and takes my hand; making me dance to the music."Mom, do you mind turning down the music ". "Oh I'm sorry, I will turn it down," Nancy says letting go of my ice-cold hands and walking towards the radio. The music box that was there a second ago is not there anymore. "Thanks", I says walking out, and going to my room.
Walking into my room, I sit at my desk and stare out the window. My eyes closed letting the cool breeze blow against my face. I breath in the heavenly smell of freshly cut grass. This was the only moment of peace I have had in a long time, I needed it. If only it could have lasted longer.
"Did you fall asleep looking at my window", Parkers annoying voice says. I groan with annoyance, opening my eyes.
"What do you want?", I scowl
"I just wanted to ask you something?"
"What?"
"Do you always look like a dustbin?"Normal girls would be crying at this simple sentence and how I wish I was, but I wasn't because some weird stuff has been happening around me and to me so this was nothing. My face was free from emotion, this made Parker confused to whom wanted to get a reaction out of me
"Your not like other girls are you?", he asked tilting his head to the side, examining me.
"You have no idea", with that said I close my curtains not bothering with the blinds. I walked over to my bed and sat on it. I fell back and turned to my side. My face feeling the coldness of my untouched bed. Before I know it I'm out like a light.*Later that night*
I wake up to the sound of rustling of paper. I flutter my eyes open, with all the power in me I sit up right to see my window wide open, wind blowing from outside blowing all my papers around. I get up and turn on the light. I run to my desk to see if my book was still there. My dream journal. If anyone gets their hands on it they are in grave danger.
Panic fills me when I see Parkers light is still on. I look to my side and see the time on my watch is 2:50am. I still have 10 minutes before the Devils hour, before things go could go bad. Parker is the only person I know who would have taken it, but how am I going to get it in time.
All of the sudden I see Parker walking to his desk and picking up my book. I knew it.
"Parker!", I shout in a whisper tone. He lifts his head and adjust his eyes before his causal smirk returns. He notices that my eyes are on the book in his hands and waves it in my face.
"Looking for this are you?"
"Please give it back, you are putting your life at risk", I plead. He snorts at my words"My life is you kidding me", he rolls his eyes at my words.
"Please you can't read it", I turn to side to see it's already 2:55am. I only have 5 minutes left to get my book back. I climb on my desk and get on to the window sill.
"Oh really? Not even one page", he says starting to open the book. As soon as he lifts the page I leap out my window and into his room. I tackle him to the ground and wrestle him to get the book back. I successfully get the book. I look up to see his watch on the wall 2:58am.
Shit.. There isn't enough time left.
"What the hell man?", he groaned in pain from my tackle. Ignoring him I get off him and run to the window. I close it and run to the door locking it. In the background I hear Parkers confused thoughts. Ignoring it I take out the extra salt in my pockets. The salt keeps the spirits away. I line the window and door as well and a big circle in the middle. I pull Parker inside the circle with me.
"What the fuck is happening?!"
"Can you just shut up, you got yourself in this situation"
I watch the clock struck to the Devils hour. Parker opens his mouth to say something, but I cover his mouth with my hand. There is nothing but an eerie silence around us. This continues for a while until I think it's safe to get out of the circle. I take my hand off his mouth. Which I regret instantly. He bombs me with questions.I don't want him to know because I actually want to live normal even if it's just for a couple of minutes.
"HA YOU'VE BEEN PRANKED", I say and go back into my room. Ignoring his questions. I lock the door and close the window and line my bed with the salt and turn off the light. I go back to sleep with my book in my hands. It's been a long day.
