CHAPTER 6

Jo and Amara didn't say anything the next morning about Evan. They didn't mention the fact that we never saw him and the girls the next morning even though he promised we would. I thought they were just being good considerate friends...and then we got home.

All of the boys and our families had gathered at my house to greet us. You would have thought we'd been gone a year when it was only two days. They had planned a party, and there was a ton of food (which I didn't mind). Everything had been running smoothly, and I nearly forgot about the mess I had created with Evan.

The adults had all gathered together and were eating separately from us and the younger kids. Our little siblings had abandoned their food, and were all running around and playing with each other.

"So...how was your little trip??" Ashton asked as we were all shoving food into our mouths.

"Really good actually. We even made some new friends. Jessi and Natasha. They are best friends, and are a year younger than Jo and I. Super sweet girls." Mara said.

I was relieved and pleasantly surprised that she had avoided mentioning Evan, but...I should have known better.

"...and then there was Jessi's older brother...Evan. He is RiRi's age." She added on.

"I'm sure Ri could tell you anything you'd need to know about him..." Jo said casually.

I dropped the fork that I had been holding. I didn't dare look up, because I knew all the boys were looking at me. I didn't know where Jo and Mara were going with this little story of theirs...and I decided that I really didn't want to know. I hadn't told them anything about last night, but they knew me well enough to probably put it together. I decided just keep quiet, and hope that they would shut up...but my hopes were in vain.

"Evan was a really nice guy. Super cute...funny...amazing personality..." Mara began.

"So...we decided to give him a little bit of advice." Jo stated after.

I jerked my head up at that. I hadn't known about this little bit of information.

"We could both see that he had his eye on Averi..." Jo said casually.

"...and he was a fantastic guy. Anyone would be lucky to have him..." Mara followed along with.

"So...we told him that if the opportunity arose...and if she wasn't against the idea...then he should..." Jo trailed off a little to create even more tension around us.

"Kiss her." The two devils said in simple unison.

The cookie I had been holding snapped in half, and I quickly tried to conceal it. All eyes were glued to Mara and Jo now.

"Soo...what happened? Did they kiss?" Luke asked.

"Well, we were swimming with them last night, but it was cold. So all of us ended up going back inside except for Evan and RiRi. Evan promised to see us the next morning to say goodbye before we left to go home, and after that we went inside...leaving them alone together." Amara explained.

Oh no...oh no...oh no...I thought as I silently freaked out in my head. WHY were they choosing to bring this up now??!

"Let's just say...we didn't see Evan this morning before we left..." Mara finished.

"So...we are assuming that yes, they did kiss. We are also assuming that Averi made a big mess of things, and that's why we didn't see him this morning." Jo said less cryptically.

I felt their all of their gazes on me before I ever looked up to confirm it. I slowly lifted my head to look at the faces of my friends. Mara and Jo had neutral expressions, and were now eating. Luke and Ashton were watching me with small smiles. I looked down the row of boys to see that Calum looked almost worried. Michael was the hardest to look at...but I slowly turned my gaze to meet his fierce glare.
