"Did they treat you well?" I blurted out as I watched Keefe play with the band. He was silent, only looking up at me.
"Sorry." I said, falling back and looking at the ceiling.
"Do you want to go back to Foxfire?" I asked, breaking the silence again.
"Everybody would hate me for joining the rebel group." Keefe said finally.
"Nobody except for our friends know you joined the Neverseen. And our friends don't hate you."
"Jensi knows?"
"Jensi doesn't but even if he did he wouldn't hate you."
"I wouldn't be so sure of that."
"Keefe, just come to school with me tomorrow."
"I don't have a registry pendant."
"Alden can get you one. Or Grady can."
"Wouldn't the council not trust me?"
"Why would the council trust you? Because you're not evil. You're not bad."
"For all they know I am!"
"Well then, I guess we'll just have to prove it to them that you're not." I said, looking at Keefe.
"How?"
"I have enough influence over them."
"I don't want you to take advantage over them."
"HAve you ever intended to harm Silveny or Greyfell? Or another elf?" I thought back and realized that I had, recently, to rescue Keefe. And the kidnappers.
"No."
"The thing is, they trust me, and I have. When I got kidnapped, and when we rescued you. The inflicting was aimed and purposeful."
"They don't know that."
"Keefe, please just come to school with me. Biana was right. I was going crazy without you." I said, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks as I admitted it. Keefe looked at me and then flipped over so he was facing me.
"I make you go crazy, huh?" Keefe said, his signature smirk showing off.
"Yes," I said, swallowing.
"You're nervous and scared. You're excited? You're heart's beating pretty fast." Keefe said, reciting my emotions that I was feeling.
"Yup. That's what I'm feeling right now."
"What if I said that you made me go crazy?" Keefe asked, now, sitting right across from me, so close that our knees were touching.
"I don't know." I said.
"What would you do if I did this?" Keefe asked again.
"Did-" I started to ask, but then I was cut off by Keefe's lips on mine. My instincts kicked in and I kissed him back.
((DO ELVES KISS?))
Keefe pulled away.
"Sure is hard being an empath when you're in love with somebody." Keefe grumbled. I processed what he said quickly, and once again, heat rose to my cheeks.
"You know what's hard? Being in love with an Empath and trying to hide your feelings from them." I responded, looking at Keefe. He was silent, just staring off into space.
"Can you feel what I'm feeling right now?" I asked Keefe. He closed his eyes and reached for my hands. I watched him and he opened his eyes and looked into mine.
