Camila's POV

"Lauren? Lauren, where are you?" I step inside the quiet room, wondering why I still hadn't heard Lauren's excited voice to my visit, or her soft humming from across the room. I shut the door behind me and lock it, making sure there was no other disturbance for the next hour I'd be here.

I look around me carefully, the room oddly still and everything else completely quiet as well. I take in Lauren's tidy bed, not a single object out of place around the large mattress or anywhere else for that matter. I walk slowly further into the room, still unfamiliar with it since I had always met Lauren by her desk near the door.

I round the corner where there was an opened door visible enough for me to see through it. "Just the bathroom," I whisper to myself.

Where the hell is she?

I turn around and gasp loudly, placing my hand over my chest when I see Lauren's wand floating only inches away from my face, casually levitating over a large wand stand. I take a few steps back, realizing I was standing in front of none other than the third most powerful wand in the world. Besides Dumbledore and Voldemort, of course.

I eye the floating wisp curiously, finding the blueish color around the wooden wand fascinating. I lift a hand up slowly, my fingertips shaking when I feel the cool air of the wand's power flow out of it almost. I feel my hand tingle a bit and my lips part open in amazement.

The wand flashes yellow as soon as my flesh makes contact with the powerful, floating wisp keeping the wand in the air. I debate on whether or not I just take just a single touch of it, wanting badly to feel a wand against my flesh for the first time.

Then I remember what Dumbledore had once told me as a child...'One cannot simply ask for any wand for themselves to do great things with it. A wand is a wizard's most valuable possession, and with one spell or hold of the wrong wand, bad things will come to that wizard. The wand chooses the wizard, the wizard doesn't choose the wand..'

I furrow my eyebrows, repeating the last statement over and over inside my head for a better grip on myself.

Wait...

"I'm not a wizard.." I mumble happily for the first time. My fingers finally wrap themselves around the end of the wand, gasping when I feel my arms freeze in place, the rest of my body tensing up quickly.

"Camila!"

I squeal out a short scream, immediately dropping what wasn't mine when I hear Lauren from the other side gasp my name out in shock almost.

I turn around swiftly meeting her wide eyes, her hands placed over her chest and her body stuck in place against the wall. She was shaking and she was panting, almost as if she had run a whole mile.

"Lauren? Are you okay?"

She shakes her head, ignoring my question. "Don't ever touch that wand ever again, do y-you hear me?"

I quickly walk over to the doubled-over girl and place a hand over her back, worried at the sound of her wheezing gasps. "What the hell happened?"

"I-... Nothing, just don't ever touch it again, okay?" She swallows hard, placing both hands over her knees.

"Okay, I promise." I quickly swear to her, wanting to make sure she was fine at the moment. "Just as long as this never happens again..."

She nods, looking down at the wand on the floor then back at me. Something weird flashes inside both her green eyes, eyes wide and lips parted almost in...realization?

Was I the one who caused this small attack?

"Lauren," I call for her quietly, waiting for her to stop staring at me like that. "Why did...that happen?"
