- Maya's POV -
My wedding was a few months away and I was currently at the bridal store picking out my dress. I invited the Matthews, Shawn, my mom, Riley, Farkle and Lucas. Well, because I want the people who matter the most to me to be a part of my big step in life.
I put on the dress with the help of Leila, one of the workers here. Once the dress was on, I looked at myself in the mirror.
" Woah," that was all I could say.
" You look amazing, baby girl," I heard someone say from behind.
I turned around to see my mom. She had a smile from ear to ear on her face. I smiled back at her then turned back to the mirror.
" Yeah Mom. I think that this might be the one," I commented.
" I'll go get the rest ready," she grabbed my shoulder as she walked out of the dressing room.
" Ready?" Leila asked.
I looked at myself in the mirror for the last time, hoping that they'll like it. Especially Lucas. He's been commenting negative feedbacks on the past few dresses I have tried on.
I let out a breath, " Yeah," I said as I walked out of the dressing room.
Once I was in everybody's sight, everybody gasped. I had a smile on my face the entire time. I looked at Lucas, I had taken his breath away, and I was proud, because he finally liked one of my choices.
" Woah," Shawn said, " Maya, you look, woah," he chuckled as he gave me a hug.
" I hope so," I turned around to face a mirror, admiring the dress, " I think that this is the one," I smiled.
" Are you sure?" his voice was beginning to annoy me.
" Why shouldn't I be sure of my own choice, Lucas?" I faced him, " It is, my wedding anyways," I snapped.
I had enough of his negative comments on my choices.
" That's not what I meant," he said.
" Then what is it that you mean?" I asked.
He didn't answer. Instead, he just walked out of the store. I took a seat on the sofa as I rested my head on the palms of my hand.
I sighed, feeling a hand on my shoulder. I looked up, to see Riley.
" The dress looks great, Maya," she comforted me, " But it'll look even greater on your wedding day, with that gorgeous smile of yours that will be bigger than ever," she looked at me, with her comforting smile.
I grabbed her hand that was on my shoulder and thanked her. But, I still looked down. What did I ever do to Lucas that made him like this? I invited him over because he was one of the people that I care most about.
" I'll go talk to him," Riley suggested.
" What?" I looked up at her.
" I need to know why he's doing this to you, to his own best friend," she explained as she walked out of the store, in search of Lucas.
I, on the other hand received compliments on the dress by the others and to not bother about Lucas' comments on it. I finally stood up and admired myself before turning back to them.
" Thank you guys," I thanked them, " But I need another agreement on this dress before deciding that it's the one," I said.
" All of us already agreed that this dress is the one," Farkle stood up, " Who else's agreement do you need?" he asked.
I walked towards the dressing room, wanting to take the dress off, " Lucas'," I said before entering.
- Riley's POV -
I got out of the store, in search of Lucas. I looked to my left, and saw him there, leaning against the wall, staring into space. I walked towards him. As he noticed me doing so, he turned towards me.
" What?" he asked, with attitude.
" 'What'? Seriously, Lucas, what is up with you?" I asked him, blood boiling.
" Nothing," he turned away.
" Well then, if nothing is up, you wouldn't have said those things to Maya, your own best friend," I glared at him.
" I just said what had to be said, that's all," he still wasn't looking at me.
I thought about his actions. I didn't understand why he would do this. Until I remembered.
" You still like her, don't you?" I asked him.
" What?" he looked at me.
" You have always liked her. In fact, you've never stopped. And seeing her taking a big step with Josh makes you feel mad, and jealous," I looked at him, " And you said those things, because you're mad at her too," he looked away.
" Lucas, this isn't her fault that she's taking a big step with Josh and not you. It's yours. You never made a move on her, " I explained.
" Fine. I still like her, okay? In fact, I'm in love with her. And what you said was right. I regret that I've never made a move on her," he started pacing back and forth.
" She liked you too," I told him.
" Really?" he asked.
" Yeah, and she dated Josh to get you to notice her. She told me all of her plans to get you to notice her. But then, she started falling for him instead," I started walking back in the store, " It's not too late, Lucas," I said, before entering, leaving him speechless.
