Getting to know you = TheOrangutan

Name – Gavin Wilson (otherwise known as TheOrangutan or Gav)

Age – 38 (which is about 98 in Wattpad years)

Gender – Simian (and occasionally male when I can find the proof amongst all the hair)

How did you find out about Wattpad?

By chance, I was looking for some competitions to enter, as I’d only just started writing, and The Watty Awards came up. I’ve been knocking around on here and causing trouble ever since.

What is your favourite subject, you like to write about?

I don’t think I have a favourite as such, it’s more a case of what my brain decides to spit out. Recently, due to a spelling mistake, my dyslexic brain’s alter ego Brian has taken over so I’m never quite sure what’s going to come out next. Thankfully he let me finish Merlin’s Gold first, but I’m damned if I know what’s going to spit out onto the screen after this.

My literary tastes seem to have broadened hugely over the last few years. I suppose it always used to be Fantasy and Sci-Fi, but I haven’t really written any of that yet. I do love historical fiction though, and have dabbled in horror and paranormal stuff too. A bit of humour always gets me going.

What was the last book you read?

Mrs Fry’s Diary by Stephen Fry, it had me in stitches for days. I love that man.

Who are your favourite writers on Wattpad?

Well Zombie45 (brown envelope please =] ), and in no particular order - ArkhamsHorror, Mera2876, vida_la_vidaxxx, fauxpunker, hachebrown, AprilDay, AngusEcrivain (the artist formerly known as Deathrage), StriderMarcusJones, Archleone, DistantDreamer, AuthorRLynn, Evangheline, CynthiaClampett, KiplingKat, FannyThornton, GenXBlogger, Avrettos….

I think that’s most of them =] My apologies to anyone I’ve missed.

Okay now that’s the boring stuff out of the way lets have some fun.

Ooh, good stuff, I’ll get the whipped cream… oh, not that sort of fun. Shame.

If you could have a theme tune following you about what would it be?

I am the Walrus by the Beatles because it contains the immortal line “I am the Ape man”. Which I am. Ook.

If you had three wishes what would you wish for?

1. I’d love to be able to go to a Michelin 3* place or try a bottle of wine that’s reputed to be worth £20,000 just to see if they are actually as good as they say they are, or possibly a 200yr old bottle of whisky. I’ve just always been intrigued as to how good drink of food can get and whether it really, truly is worth the hype and the money.

Have you ever worn sandals with socks?  

Hell no… give me twenty years or so…

If you could choose to be attacked by a Great white shark or a Lion what would it be?

Both. Hopefully they’d attack each other and I could leg it… (another reason for not wearing socks in sandals, ruins the traction)
