IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!

hi there lovely readers - hope you're having a fab day, and if no one's told you this yet today (or even if they have) you look great today, keep smiling because it looks wonderful on you.

okay so this is a really important message i just wanted to get across to anyone reading this story (if you actually are wow, thank you) and actually anyone reading any of my books. i know authors notes are really annoying, and you might just want to get on with the story - if you do, skip ahead, i won't mind - but this is just something i wanted to make clear so nobody misunderstands how im coming across, or my intentions. so here we go:

in this book, i am not trying to condone the romanticizing of self harm, depression, suicide or any mental illness.

depression is not having your boyfriend kissing your scars and telling you you're beautiful. (you are beautiful, though. don't forget that.) depression, is not being able to sleep at 3am in the morning because you're debating whether or not to take your own life. or not being able to find the motivation to wake up in the morning.

bulimia isnt a long haired pretty girl bending over a toilet with a tragically beautiful face on. it's a puffed miserable face with vomit dripping from its chin and a nose bleed.

panic attacks aren't burying your face into your lover's chest and having them tell you that everything will be okay. it's feeling out of control and like oxygen has suddenly been taken away from you.

anorexia isn't a slim figure shyly refusing a cupcake. it's hair growing all over your freezing malnourished body.

these are real mental disorders, real issues that happen in real life to real people, and a lot of authors out there use them for plot twists, they glamorize them, and give the idea to impressionable, young teenagers on the internet that they can be fixed as soon as you set eyes on the love of your life.

they can be fixed. but it takes more than a sentence. more than a love song. more than a book.

i am truly trying to not be one of those authors, and this is the point (well one of) that i am trying to make in this message. if i come across like i am using any of these issues in the wrong way, i am truly sorry. genuinely. please tell me if i've offended you in any way and i'll change it straight away, because i don't want to hurt any of you.

yes, this is a cheesy teen fic that starts off with suicide. but it's allison that's affected by these issues, and the story revolves around the people who were left behind when she left, and how important it is for those people to move on when they lose someone they love, it's about acceptance and learning to live with loss.

no, they're not going to instantly be fine, forget about allison and move on in a month.

no one could truly do that when someone they love leaves their life.

but you can try to be happy, it's the least you deserve.

for anyone who is going through the issues mentioned above, i love you, you're wonderful, and each and every one of you deserve a place on this earth just as much as the next person. if you need to talk - ever - i'm here, even if you just need to rant, someone to listen to you. drop me a message and i'll get back to you as soon as humanly possible.

i hope you understand, and you don't feel like i'm trying to glamorize depression in any way, shape or form.

"a semi colon represents a sentence the author could have ended, but chose not to. the author is you and the sentence is your life. don't let your story end."

i love all of you, you're doing great. keep it up, lovelies.
