A small breeze blew through the forest, blowing past the trees and the bushes. Blowing over to the river and the dead trees, blowing over the falls and a giant tree. A silver tabby cat was sitting on by the base of the giant tree, her light blue eyes gazed at the swinging vines that hung from the tree. The she took a long, deep breath as the wind ruffled her fur. The sunlight peeked its way through the branches and tangled leafs, shinning on the she's face. The tabby she let out a small wince at the bright lights of sun. The sunlight started to get stronger and stronger, the she had to turned away.

Her eyes slowly opened, a bright light shone above her head. She squinted her eyes, trying to get a better view of that her surroundings were. She was in a place called a bedroom and she was sleeping on a soft, thin pelted blanket. She felt a warm body around her, the silver she lifted her head to see a white fluffy ball wrapped around her, the bell on her collar jingled a bit. The fluffy ball had a purple color on with a bell, that was her mother, Snowflake.

The she got up and parted her jaw for a yawn, she felt her mother shift to the side. "Where do you think your going?" she asked, the silver cat turned towards her mother. Her eyes were open to show glowing green eyes staring right at her. "I'm going outside." The she meowed, she turned and slowly padded towards the entrance of the bedroom. "Are you going to see Shiver again, Bella?" Snowflake asked. Bella turned towards her mother, this time the white she was sitting upward and facing towards her. "Maybe." Bella said, she padded towards the door.

She padded through the room called a living room and into the kitchen. One of her owners bent down and brushed her hand through her pelt, then went back to what she was doing before. Bella purred and padded towards the door that lead outside, she let out a few meows to let her owner know she wanted to be let out.

The door slowly cracked a little, Bella squeezed her way through the crack and into the outside world. The she took a deep breath, drinking in the outside air. She looked around, in front of her stood a small yard with a small bush in it, and behind that was a white colored fence, stained with dust from old age. The tabby she padded over to the fence and leaped onto it, she sat down and shook her pelt, then started to clean it. As her tongue rasped over her pelt, out of the corner of her eye, she saw a white blur coming towards her. She looked up and towards the white blur, the loud jingle from the bell on the cats red collar rung in her ears.

"Hello Bella!" said the cat, Bella smiled. "Hello Shiver, nice to see your out today." she meowed. Shiver bunched his muscles and leapt onto the fence, next to Bella. He sat down and turned his head towards her, "Let me guess, your waiting for Stella to come back aren't you?" she said. Shiver's back fur stood up, "No," he said "maybe.... yes... but she said that her owners are taking her on a trip somewhere. She won't be back till a few weeks I assume" Bella looked over into the small field that the fence shielded the town from. "Your waiting for him again?" Shiver said, this time his tone was in disgust.

Bella swerved her head towards him, "What? Beetle? Yes. What's wrong with seeing him?"

"You know that we don't like him coming here, plus what if your owners see him with a kitten like you? They could chase him off or worse, even kill him." Shiver said, Bella snorted. "Are you saying we as in you and Stella? Or we as in you and yourself? Please, my owners won't do anything if they see me talking with my brother, the only thing dangerous about them is when the smaller ones come outside and start waving sticks around or when they are taking Snowflake or me to the vet." Bella got up and bunched her muscles to jump down, "Just make sure you come back safe." the white tom said, he was leaning over to Bella.

"Ah yes, try to love on me when Stella isn't around. That can get you in deep trouble with your mate you see?" the silver and white she meowed. Shiver's neck fur stood up, "I don't love you! I care about you yes, but.... uh.... just don't get yourself hurt. Alright?" he mewed. Bella leaned over to Shiver and licked his shoulder, then she let out a small purr of laughter. "I won't, trust me. He's my brother, he wouldn't hurt me or anyone." She leaped down and started padding over to the field. Don't get yourself hurt he says, we don't like him coming here he says. Who does he think he is? She thought, she made it to the end of the field and beside the fence.

Bella padded along the fence line until she found a small gap between the fence and the ground, she squeezed her way to the outside. She made it to where half her body was out when she got stuck, she looked at the hole and started to twist her body. "It took you long enough." a voice said, Bella looked above her, sitting on the top of the fence was a dark grey tabby tom, his yellow eyes stared down at her.

"Well I was..." she said, then pushed herself out of the hole, "talking to Shiver, but I wanted to talk to you instead, Beetle." The tabby tom leaped over her head and down in front of her. Bella picked herself up and shook her pelt from the dirt, "How's your life as a wild cat Beetle? What's happened in your so called Clan?" she asked, her expression brightened up. Beetle stretched and sat back down, "You know it's a pain coming here. I have to make an excuse to get out of camp, then I have to cross the river, then get here without having other cats seeing me." he meowed, Bella looked at her paws. "They why don't you come back to me and mother, we miss you very much."

"But I am not a kittypet," Beetle meowed, he turned his head away. "I love my life as it is, I have a Clan to look after and..." he paused, the tabby tom let out a growl, Bella padded up to him, "Then why can't I be a wild cat like you? It would make things some much easier! Then I could finally see what your Clan looks like!" she let out a purr "And see if you have any friends."

Beetle shifted his gaze, "Your too weak to become a wild cat." he meowed, Bella's expression turned from happy to sadness in a heartbeat. Thanks brother. She thought. Apparently, Beetle noticed this and started licking her head, "And besides, Snowflake needs someone to look after her as much as you need someone to look after you." he meowed between licks. "And plus, Clan life is harder than it is already, fighting off other cats from our territory, hunting for my Clan." Then he stopped, "But how can I when I have a leader who's mind is in her own world."

Beetle paused for a moment then looked back into the forest, Bella looked at him. "I have to go now." He meowed and stood up, "Aw! But you just got here!" Bella winced, the dark grey tabby looked at her. "But I have to get back to my Clan." he meowed, he padded towards the road that was a few feet away from him. He stopped and looked back at Bella over his shoulder, "Life is harder than what you think, Bella. Remember that." then he raced off over the road and into the forest. Bella stared at where the tom disappeared, she got up after a moment and padded back to the small hole in the fence. Life is harder than what you think, Bella. The words rang in her ears, like the bell on her collar.

When she got through and started padding back to where her home was, she saw Shiver sitting on the porch. His words flooded back into her mind, we don't like him coming here.... just be careful. Bella shook her head. Beetle is not dangerous. She thought. Even if he was then I would have known.
