Chapter Two: Dad's Abduction

One night as I was lying in my bed, unable to sleep, a bright light filtered through my window. I looked over to my alarm clock that said 2 am and before I could get up out of bed to see what was outside, there was a loud crash! I ran to my window and threw it open and I was shocked to see what I did. I ran downstairs and out the front door that was now broken off its hinges and lying on the hardwood floor only to see my father disappear in this big flash of light, along with these weird creatures with pale hair colors and vibrant lime green eyes that pierced through your soul and looked a lot like cat eyes. One of them, with pale blue hair and looked to be about my age, turned his head towards me and it looked as if he recognized me. Then he went through the bright light and then it was gone.

I remembered what my dad said four years before that he might not be here for much longer. How did he know? How did he know then that he would be kidnapped be these creatures? A bunch of other questions swarmed through my head.

I started to pace around the living room. I told myself to calm down, so I sat down to watch some TV.

I started to watch some old Tom and Jerry cartoons when a book fell off the bookshelf in the living room. I went over to it and put it back on the shelf. I walked away when it fell off again. I went back over to it and put it on the shelf but it shot out again and hit me right in the forehead.

"Ow. You must really want me to read you, huh?"

In response to my question, the engravings on the book's cover seemed to glow cyan. It would glow brighter if I stroked the front cover. I went back over to the couch, turned off the TV, and turned on the floor lamp next to me. Written on the front cover were the words The Legends of Thanta.
