When I opened the leather bound book, the words started to glow a cream color as a male voice read the glowing words.

"Thanta is the home planet of two different races of people: the Zatha and the Iya. The two races are mortal enemies. Both want complete control over Thanta. War broke out and several thousand of each race were killed. After this happened, a new race rose from the ashes of both races' fallen kin. They called themselves the Cantidus.

The Cantidus told their former kin that because the Zatha's and Iya's greed, neither race was to control Thanta and that the Cantidus would help guide both the Zathas and Iyas to live and work together in harmony. They told them, though, 'But if you fight another war like this again, we will have no choice but to leave Thanta and we will be unable to help guide you anymore. You will be alone and trapped here.'

Whispers of shock and fear washed over the crowds of both people. But one Iyan girl stepped forward and asked, 'Would there be any way of reaching you again, if you did go away?'

A  Zathan boy stepped forward as well and agreed with her. The Iyan girl smiled and took the boy's hand. At this gesture, the people of Cantius smiled and said, 'Because you two have shown that even though your people are enemies, that doesn't stop you from caring about the future of both people. What are your names?'

'I'm Catalena.'

'And I'm Xavier.'

'Well, then,'  said an older Cantidus man, 'You two will have the job of going to the Canti temple if in case your people start another war. You shall complete a ritual that will bring you to our new homeland, Guilme, and then we will tell you what you need to do and guide your footsteps. The ritual can only be preformed once by each generation but the two representatives must be together for it to work. This job shall be pasted down generation by generation. Daughters of Catalena will represent the Iyas and sons of Xavier will represent the Zathas.'

With that, the two races of people living on Thanta never fought until several hundred years later. War broke out. The daughter of Catalena and the son of Xavier at the time met together at the Canti temple to pray to their ancestors for help and guidance to stop the war. Unfortunately, they preformed the ritual wrong and had to wait for the next generation to get it right to bring their ancestors back to Thanta.

But when the next daughter of Catalena was born, her mother died while she was young. The same thing happened to the new son of Xavier; his father died around the same time that the daughter of Catalena's mother did. Neither knew of the ritual or how to preform it.

Ten years after her birth, the daughter of Catalena and her father disappeared. No one has seen her or her father since. The Iyas looked everywhere for her but never found her. The Zathas started to protect the young son of Xavier with every solider they could spare during these war-torn times. Lots of Iyas began to believe the daughter to be dead and all lost hope in ever seeing their ancestors again.

And the effects of the war on Thanta began to show. Thanta started to die."

I closed the old book and sighed. Then a envelope fell out of the book that was addressed to me. It said:

My dear Ryan,
If you are reading this letter, then you have most likely read the book. I know you might think that this book is only a fairy tale. It's not. My guess is you read the book when I was kidnapped.
Why was I kidnapped?
I am an Iya and so are you, except you are more valuable than I am. You are the missing daughter of Catalena.

I was shocked as I read this but I had to read on.

The Zathas most likely took me because I am an inventor and the father of the daughter of Catalena. Word has been going around that the Zathas were creating a weapon of mass destruction to end the war forcefully. They need someone like me to construct it, though. You must stop them. Find the son of Xavier. He is a Zatha. He will be a most needed ally. Please, before it's too late! Before our true home, Thanta, dies.
With love,
Daddy
