Aria's POV

I walk through the streets and ask in every shop if they need employees, no luck. I'm just going to go to the flat and check the internet again, there must be at least one job out there.

I round a corner and hear a low growl from down an ally way. I may as well go investigate. Of course that idea went straight out the window as I'm super clumsy. I trip over a bin and It clatters to the floor. I see three dogs go shooting out of the ally way. For some reason I feel like I need to check the ally.

I turn the corner to see a collie, it has spots like bill but is shorter and smaller. It cowers in the corner and let's out a quiet whimper. I can't leave it here... but how do I get it home? What will Min say? What will Bill say?

I've made my decision. I unwrap my scarf and walk sideways towards the dog. I used to help out at a shelter so I've seen dogs like this before. I kneel down about 2 meters away, I don't want to scare it. It looks curious,  slowly the dog creeps towards me and sniffs my knee. I offer my hand and eventually it allows me to wrap the scarf round it's neck. I soon notice it has a collar. I thought this dog would have been born on the street. I read the collar but all it says is 'poppy.' Maybe she's been in a shelter before or she ran away. I decide not to use the collar as her neck looks sore. I lead her slowly down the ally way and into the quiet streets. She seems not to be bothered by people or cars. She fights against the scarf but eventually gives up and walks with her head bowed behind me.

When we reach the flat I knock the door so Min can get Bill into his cage. Min answers the door looking puzzled,  she's still in her pyjamas.

"Aria, why did you knock? The door was open." Her eyes slowly wander down to the scruffy dog at my heels.

"Aria! Where did you find her! She's stunning! We need to get her fed! Are you going to keep her? What's her name? Wait... come in we'll talk after she's had a meal. Bills sleeping in his cage."

I walk in and let poppy go explore. Well that was my idea. She crumples into a ball by the door. I guess it's going to take more time than I thought.... I mean it's not like I'm going to keep her or... Poppy sits up and stares into my eyes, great I found myself a mind reading dog. Poppy seems to relax a bit and wags her tail. Now I have to keep her, she's to cute!

"So what's her name?" Min takes a seat opposite me and poppy walks over to sit next to me, she curls into a ball at my feet.

"Well she has a collar with poppy on it. I think I'm going to keep her name. I'm guessing the collar is from a shelter and she escaped, she doesn't look like a house dog." Poppy looks up at me and I can tell I'm right. I remove the collar to stop it rubbing, it's way to small.

I walk of to my room after talking to Min about how she is going to lend me some money until I get a job. I'm glad to have an amazing friend like her! Poppy has seemed to become very attached to me in the past hour. I pat the bed and reluctantly she hops up. I see her look from my pin board to me. I hadn't realised how much I wanted to tell someone about my childhood and Milly. Now seems like the perfect time and poppy seems interested.  I decide to tell the story to poppy. I need to tell someone.
