Bills POV
We wander past arenas and fields until we reach the dog park. It's huge! Our owners decide to use the indoor one as it will be warmer. The two doors slide open to a reception area. My girl and all the other humans put their bags in the lockers and take only the items we need. We walk through another set of doors to see a huge sand arena. There's mini agility obstacles and a small pool at the back. There's three other dogs and three humans already in the dog park.
"Hey! Can we let our dogs go?!" My girl shouts across to the other people.
"Of course!" A tall brunette answers. Our leads are unclipped and we all rush over to the new dogs. There's a Hungarian pumi, Shiba inu and a bearded collie.
"Hey what's your names!" Echo asks before we even reach them.
"I'm luna, this is cookie and that's minstrel." So the pumi is called luna, the Shiba inu is cookie and the beardie is called minstrel.
"I'm Echo! That's poppy, storm and Bill."
"Nice to meet you guys! Wanna play something? Let's race!" Cookie jumps at her idea, which I must admit is amazing!
We design a course. Over the jump, into a tunnel, up a dog walk, through the pool and over the jump. It's pretty much a straight line. It's 1 vs 1 and we will hold a final to find the overall winner. It's poppy vs minstrel first. They prepare on the start line and I watch both of them shoot off at an incredible speed. Poppy has the lead until the end but it was close. Next is me vs Echo. I'm worried about this, Echo is really fast.
I accelerate off the start line and head for the jump. I soar over it and run into the tunnel. I slow down a bit for the dog walk and make sure to touch the yellow part. I dive straight into the app water and end up almost jumping the pool. I scramble out and jump the last hurdle with ease as they are only on small height. It turns out I won because Echo fell of the dog walk.
We carry on until it's me and Luna in the finals. We speed off the line and I repeat the pattern. I stop on the contact like my girl tells me too but when I glance over I see luna running straight down it at an amazing speed. She touches the yellow without losing speed!? That's amazing! I rush to catch up but luna wins.
"Well done! What was that thing you did on the yellow thing?" I tilt my head and walk with her towards the rest of the group.
"My owner calls it a running contact. I have to be really careful not to jump the yellow though." I nod and sit next to poppy. I hope we learn how to do that in our agility lessons!
"Hey poppy want to beg for some food?"
"Sounds fun!" We head over to where our girls are sat. I beg infront of the picnic table they're sat at and pull my cutest face. Poppy copies my actions and we earn ourselves some biscuits.
"Swimming?" I ask poppy as we near the back of the dog park. She doesn't reply so we sit at the edge of the slope that heads into the pool. Minstrel, cookie and Luna are playing tag and diving in. I watch them until I feel a force push me from behind. I fall into the pool and slide down the slope a bit. I hear Poppy's laughing from behind me. I turn and run straight towards her. She play bows and runs around the outside of the pool. I catch up and pull her in. We doggy paddle ashore. Poppy shakes her fur and I pretend to be disgusted when she splashes me. She just laughs at me. I guess I'm not very good at acting.
"So what are we doing next?" Poppy asks me. She's sat in the shallow water watching the other dogs play just like I had.
"Agility I think."
"YESSS!" Poppy jumps up and jumps around me a few times before running towards our girls. This is going to be her first proper go at agility and I can tell she's excited.
