Chapter 10: Telling the truth...In a Way

"murder them"

As those words left [YN]s mouth, me and Sasha looked at her in shock for a moment and then I shook her, trying to wake her up. All I can think of is that she had to be having a nightmare, that's all it could be: a nightmare, she couldn't have murdered someone, she couldn't have.

[YN] wasn't waking up, instead she tensed up and sweat more while repeating, "no no nononoNONONO!" It got to a point to where she was screaming. I look over at Sasha and say:

"If this doesn't work we'll have to take her to the infirmary" I try to mask the fear in my voice but I would bet ten dollars that it was all over my face. Sasha gives me a quick nod and then I scream in [YN]s ear: "WAKE UP YOUR DREAMING, ITS US MIKASA AND SASHA!!!!"

[YN] stops screaming, and to my relief, her eyes flutter open. She seems in a daze for a moment but then she sees me and Sasha looking down at her, fear and relief probably plastered on Sasha's face. She instantly hugs onto me and says:

"I-I-I'm s-sorry I-I had a b-bad dream." She was still shaking as I held her and her voice was quavering, her face was damp with tears and sweat.

"We know..." Sasha starts " you were mumbling things in your sleep..."
[YN] looked at her surprised and shocked but then she struggled out of my grip, and stood up, still shaking. She grabbed one of the blankets off the bed.

" Im going to take a walk..."

"I don't think you should do that, you just woke up from something terrible, you should rest" I say

"... Mikasa I need to take a walk, maybe for a few hours..." she let out a shaky sigh and looked at the ground, the blanket now wrapped around her.

"[YN] Im sorry but I seriously don't think you you should do that"

"Mikasa, I need to...I don't want to hurt you..." she mumbled quietly the last part

"but why?"
The girl before me let out a shaky sigh and looked down at the ground, allowing for her bangs to cover her eyes and a shadow to cover her face.

"Mikasa.... I understand that you care for me, but the best thing to do right now is to let me go clear my head, just for the night. I feel as if I need to do this." I was shocked, [YN] never showed this side of her. But, with that she turned around and opened the door but before she walked through she turned her head toward us and said:

"Don't follow me" before going through the door into the inky blackness of the night hallways. The door creaking shut behind her.

Tch, fucking brats, they think that they can just wander around after curfew without getting punished. Damn , I wonder what time it is... I think this as I walk out of the store room and then the mess hall where the brats were.

But to my surprise I see someone leave the girls' dormitory and then jog off to the woods.

What the hell!?

I decided to run after her and see where she's going. Damn she's fast...

I jog through the maze of trees and branches before I stop dead in my tracks from a blood curdling scream. I run to where the scream came from and where the girl most likely is. I once again stop, panting, to see a girl with long silver hair, in a black cloak sitting down by the lake. Once she turns her head I can see that the whites of her eyes are replaced with black and the pupils, replaced with a red orbs with a dot of black, almost a pinprick, in the middle. She looks into the lake, only to be meet with her reflection. She looked....almost afraid of what she saw. She sighed, black tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm a fucking monster... but maybe being a monster for a night will make me forget.."
I see a moving and shifting on her back before six reddish clearish tentacles, three on each side, burst from her back, they've got spikes up and down them. They lay on the ground for a moment before stretching them out and then slamming into the ground. They then slowly lifted the girl up off the ground, two of the front tentacles acting like hands and staying in front of her while the other four acted like feet and stayed on the ground. She seemed to stagger with her new "legs" but soon got the hang of it.

She then did something that surprised me. She launched herself into the air while contracting the "legs" into her body and extending the "arms". One of the "arms" reached out and grabbed the tree, swinging the girl as it contracted and the other 'arm' reached for another branch and pulled the girl along. It looked almost as if she was using 3DMG gear. She soon landed on the ground and stretched out her tentacles again.

I look up only to see that the night is wearing thin. I turn back and begin to jog through the forest.

What the fuck was that?

Who was that?

What did they mean by "being a monster for the night"?
