Dorothy's head was reeling. How could Baum have been her grandfather this whole time and she had no idea? How was the woman sobbing in front of her Dorothy's grandmother?
Baum's head felt like it was going to explode. Charity had given birth all those years ago to his daughter. His daughter! Good lord, he had a daughter? And how could it be that Dorothy, the girl he had been a therapist for so long ago, be his granddaughter? How had he not known this whole time?
Charity felt an enormous weight slide off her chest. She had kept the secret of Alice for so long. Now she was finally free.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang again. They all jumped. "Are you expecting company, Frank?" Asked Charity, wiping tears from her eyes. Baum looked so in shock that it was amazing that he could even shake his head to say no. The doorbell rang again. Whoever was outside was getting impatient. "I'll get it." Dorothy said, jumping up and walking to the door. She unlocked it and opened it half way.A man stood before her. He had brown tussled hair and wore a brown pinstriped suit with a brown long overcoat. He had white shoes that said 'converse' on his feet and his eyes were brown and full of adventure. When he spoke he had a heavy English accent. "Right then, 'ello, I'm the Doctor." Dorothy starred at him. "Doctor of what?" The Doctor's brow seemed to furrow and he looked grave. "Have you been hearing things?" Dorothy shook her head, feeling her heart leap in her throat. How could he possible know? "No. Really? I could have sworn the signal was coming from around here." He took a silver tube out of his pocket with a blue flashing thing on the end of it. He pressed a button on it and it started to hum as he waved it around trying to find a signal. "What's that?" Dorothy asked, warily eyeing the device. "Screwdriver." He replied, as he spun around with it pointed out. "That looks nothing like any screwdriver I've ever seen." Dorothy said, folding her arms. "That's because it's sonic and-" He stopped abruptly and pointed the screwdriver closer to her. "The signal is coming... From you." He said, starring at Dorothy. He came closer but Dorothy reeled back and he caught the door. "I'm so sorry." He said "Truly I am." "What are you talking about?" "Your a gateway." he said, pointing the screwdriver at her head. The last thing Dorothy saw before she blacked out was the Doctor's saddened face.

"Is she going to be all right?" Dorothy heard Baum ask as she woke up. "She'll be fine." Answered the Doctor "Ah, well actually not that fine, you see, she's being used as a gateway." The Doctor stated, itching his ear. "What the hell does that mean?" Demanded Charity. Dorothy sat up, and the Doctor smiled. "Good your awake." "Gateway." Charity reminded the Doctor impatiently. "Ah, yes, right then. Gateway." He stood and began to pace. "Do you hear voices? Inside your head Dorothy. Things that others can't hear?" Dorothy nodded and began to speak but the Doctor cut her off. "What about seeing things? Things that aren't there, but you've seen them." Dorothy nodded again. The Doctor stopped pacing and turned to her. "What kind of things do you see?" Dorothy's wide eyes met his and she began to talk. "Scarecrows. Machines. Things that haven't happened yet." The Doctor nodded. "Good good. And the voices? What do they say?" "They want me to help them. They ask me to save them." The doctor starred at her. "That's not good." Charity snorted. "You think?" The Doctor completely ignored her and kept all his focus on Dorothy. "Do these voices scare you?" Dorothy shook her head. "No. They just want help." The doctor suddenly gasped and began pacing suddenly while talking very fast to himself. "No! Yes! Perhaps but they need a host and she's perfect! Small, weak-" "hey!" Interjected Dorothy. "No. No. I don't mean you in particular, just your race." "You talk like you aren't human!" Exclaimed Charity. The Doctor's eyes locked on hers.
"That's because I'm not."
They all starred and Baum let out a gasp. "Y-your an alien!" The Doctor ignored him and continued. "Right, so you've become a host for the Gelth-" "What?" Asked Dorothy and Charity at the same time. "Shhh! Thinking!" The Doctor said, and continued to pace. "So... What do they want? They already tried to get here once, and they know planet Earth is under my protection. So why risk coming if they know I'll destroy them? And what could be worth the risk to come back here after I destroyed almost all of them? Think! Think! Think!" Charity looked at the Doctor like he was insane, but Dorothy seemed to understand what the Doctor meant. "But what are those flashes, Doctor? When I see things?" The Doctor faced her. "The future." Dorothy starred, Charity gapped, and Baum shook his head, flabbergasted. There was not doubt now. They all believed the Doctor. And for the third time that night, there was a knock on the door. They all jumped, except for the Doctor. Who turned to Baum. "Expecting company?" Baum shook his head. Charity glanced at the silver watch on her wrist. "Half-past eleven." She announced. "Who is calling this late?" Suddenly Dorothy became ridged. "It's coming." She whispered. "What is?" Asked the Doctor. Dorothy shook her head. "My enemy." She hissed. "Yes, but who or what?" Asked the Doctor. "You know it Doctor. You've encountered them before. They are dangerous, and as old as time itself. We are sworn enemies, and it's coming for us. The girl will not be sparred, and the others will not as well." The Doctor's eyes grew huge at another knock. "No." He whispered. "Oh, yes." Dorothy said, a smile forming on her lips. "What is it Doctor?" Asked Charity, her voice high pitched with panic.
"Angels." The Doctor murmured.
"What?" Asked Charity.
