The tardis materialized again, but this time it had landed where the Doctor had wanted it to. About ten miles away from Baum's house. "Allonz-y!" Commanded the Doctor and he stepped out of the tardis door. Dorothy followed him and Baum and Charity glanced at each other hoping that it was indeed where the Doctor intended to land and not some unknown planet. They exited as well and the group all found themselves on a hill overlooking a town. "That's Brimshire." Stated Dorothy as the others squinted down at it. "Only about ten miles from my house!" Exclaimed Baum. "Maybe w-" "Shhh!" Commanded the Doctor and Baum fell silent. "Something's changed," He smelled the air and shook his head. Grabbing a blade of grass he examined it carefully and licked it. "Oh that's disgusting!" Charity shuddered but the Doctor held up a finger. "Listen." They all stood silently and could here the wind whistling in the trees and no birdsong at all. "It's silent." Stated Baum. "Nothing to worry about." "No." Said Dorothy. "If it's silent up here, and no noise coming from a town in the middle of a day...." "Where are all they people." Finished the Doctor.

The party stood in the eerie silence, all quivering on the inside. They all wondered who, or what could have destroyed a whole village. "What happened?" Charity asked, her question cutting through the silence like a knife to bread. "It's the Angels. They're growing stronger." Replied the Doctor, his brow twisted with worry. "Dorothy we need to contact the Gelth now." Dorothy nodded at these words but on the inside she was shaking. "What do I need to do?" She asked. "Relax. Let them into your mind," He gestured to the ground. "And you may want to sit down." Dorothy sat down upon the slightly damp grass, and the adults kneeled down around her. Dorothy closed her eyes and forced her mind to relax. Her face became still and calm as she established a connection with the Gelth. Charity grasped Baum's hand and starred at Dorothy's face with an anxious look. Baum looked rather sick. His hair was grayer then normal and his complexion was pale and ashy. The Doctor was grave. They all waited with bated breath. Then Dorothy's head started to twitch violently. Her hands began to twitch as well and soon her whole body was wracking with spasms. Charity's grip on Baum's hand became so tight that her hand was white and her nails dug deep in his flesh.

Then Dorothy stopped shaking. Her eyes forced open, and she released a long slow breath, which grew into a blue shining figure that floated above Dorothy. "Hello." Said the Doctor. The figure hissed at him and began to talk, using Dorothy's mouth. "We needed help, and you refused us passage." Dorothy rasped. "You were going to take control of the planet! You were going to wipe out all life on Earth." Stated the Doctor. The Gelth seemed to grow angry. "The question is," Said the Doctor. "Why are you back?" The Gelth smiled and said, "The rift Doctor. The rift will save us." "What rift?" The Doctor asked sharply, and the Gelth laughed. "You don't know? The Angels know; they've sensed it. But you.... You still have no idea." "What do want with Dorothy?" The Gelth hissed at that question and seemed to grow agitated. "She will be our gateway. Our savior." The Doctor shook his head at the Gelth's reply. "Like poor Gwyneth?" The Gelth smiled grimly and Charity shivered. Baum reached into his pocket and pulled out a lace handkerchief and began moping his shinning brow. "This human is stronger than Gwyneth. She's different Doctor. She will be our permanent gateway." "What exactly do you want? To come in and terrorize the people of earth? Because I swear to you, as I've sworn to others. This planet is under my protection." The Gelth's reply was given in the form of a laugh. "The rift Doctor. The rift will save us."

Then it slithered back into her mouth and disappeared. Dorothy's eyes snapped open and she starred at all the worried faces around her. "W-what happened? D-did I succeed?" She stuttered, overcome with a sudden tiredness she could not explain. The Doctor nodded gravely. "Yes, it worked. Your a brave girl." Dorothy smiled and then sank down into the moist grass from exhaustion.  "Oh my god, ghosts are real!" Exclaimed Charity shaking loose from Baum's grip. "They're not ghosts." Said Dorothy, rubbing her temples. "They're life forms from another world." "Aliens?" Baum offered. "Yes," said Dorothy with a nod. "Aliens."
"Charity, Baum, Dorothy, please look up and for god's sake, do not blink."
They all looked up to where the Doctor was standing. Just a few yards away stood a weeping angel. Charity let out a squeak of fright, but did not tear her eyes off the Angel, not even for a second. "Doctor, what do we do?" Whispered Baum. The Doctor kept starring at the Angel. "Can't you pull that fancy trick and get us out of here with your box?" Hissed Charity. "I only programmed it for one very close call." Doctor?
the voice crackling from the broken radio was back.
May I speak with the Doctor please?
The Doctor grabbed the device and pressed a button and, like before, began talking. "Hello Angel Bob! Long time no see, give or take a thousand years and into the Zarkloktic Galaxy."
You know what the rift is now, don't you?
"Yes."
You know how to stop us then, Doctor.
"I don't know what your after. Power? That's all I can guess."
We are after the rift.
Then the Angel repeated words that the Doctor had heard mere moments ago, which made a stab of fear fly through the whole party.
The rift, Doctor. The rift will save us."
