Song: All of Me

By: John Legend

I walk home from church, still rubbing my head as I walk down the sidewalk. I have to walk about two miles to church every Sunday and then two miles back. It is exhausting but it keeps me in shape so I'm okay with it. Though, Chloe doesn't know about me having to walk so I have to do it stealthy in order to keep her from knowing.

If she knew she'd call child services or something to get my dad to take me to church. I don't think it would really work but I know she'd cause more of a panic than what it's worth. I let out a small sigh at that thought. I love my best friend to death, but she can be over dramatic at times.

I reach my house and quickly unlock the door to go inside before walking upstairs. I take my phone off the charger before checking my messages to see five missed calls from Chloe and sixteen texts telling me to call her.

This must be important..... to her. I quickly call her and she picks up on the second ring before commencing to scream into my poor little ear. "W-what is it?" I ask as I carefully put the phone back to my ear, wondering if I'll have to replace the speakers on my phone as I do.

"YOUR HEART KEY GOT TO ITALY AND SOMEONE PICKED IT UP!" I wince at her excitement before rolling my eyes. "Yeah, someone found it, so what? That doesn't mean I'll ever see them again, or if they'll ever give it back to me if I even did see them again." I tell her as I run a hand through my hair.

She laughs like a maniac before replying, "I forgot to mention that a bunch of students from nearby schools and our own school went on a trip to Italy for the week for the Adventure Club trip." I feel my heart fall and my hope start to diminish.

I quickly pull myself back together before replying, "That doesn't mean anything, they could give it to a girlfriend that they already have." She laughs heartily and I can practically hear here celebrating on the other side.

"MARCY ROSE WILL HAVE A BOYFRIEND IF IT'S THE LAST THING I EVER DO!" She screams and I wince once again. I shake my head at her but can't help but smile at her enthusiasm. She always gets like this when she's passionate about something.

"Now come outside, me and Logan are waiting for you." She orders and I jump up to look out, surprised to see her waving as she hangs out of her window. I let a small smile slip onto my lips before hanging up on the phone and quickly changing into a pair of jeans and a sweatshirt to battle the late fall air.

I don't bother walking back downstairs and, instead, jump out my window, landing expertly like a ninja. I look up to see Logan rolling his eyes at me and can't help but smile. I run up to the truck before climbing in only to see a pretty girl with glasses and one of Logan's other friends, Sam, in the back already.

They girl scoots into the middle and I stare at her curiously. She notices my stares and smiles before holding out her hand for me to shake. "Hello, my name's Emma. It's nice to meet you." Her voice is light and I already have a feeling that she's a singer.

"She's Sam's girlfriend. She just recently moved back to town though, but she's pretty awesome." Chloe fills me in and I nod before smiling at her kindly. "Well then it's nice to meet you too. I'm Marcy." I tell her and we both smile at one another.

"Now, off to the mall!" Chloe announces and I immediately go for the door, only to hear it lock just as I get my hand on the handle. I look up to see Chloe staring at me deviously as she pulls away from my house and in the direction of the most dreaded place on earth.

"Why are you doing this to me?! I thought we were friends?!" I shout as a fake tear rolls down my cheek. Chloe rolls her eyes at me before replying, "You. Need. New. Clothes. You can't keep wearing the ones from eighth grade!" I frown and cross my arms over my chest angrily.

"It's not like I've grown any." I huff and Logan busts out laughing. I kick the back of his seat as he enters his second minute of laughter and he grunts in surprise. "Hey! Be gentle with him! He's fragile." Chloe scolds me as she reaches out to ruffle Logan's hair.

His laughter immediately turns into a frown and it's my turn to laugh along with Emma and Sam. He broods in the front and crosses his arms over his chest and stares out the window. "Aw, is the poor, fragile baby upset because everyone is laughing without him?" I coo and he shoots me a glare.

I lean forward to pinch his cheeks but he quickly smacks my hands away. "Cut it out Marce." He begs and I tap my chin thoughtfully. "I might, for twenty bucks." I hold out my hand and, knowing I completely mean it, he pulls out his wallet and hands over twenty dollars.

Chloe laughs as I pocket the cash and lean back in my seat before falling silent like our agreement implied. Emma stares at us in shock and I smile at her cheerfully. "He actually gave you the money?" She asks in amazement and I nod.

"Yeah, it was either that or deal with Marce's annoying mode for the rest of the day." Logan explains and I roll my eyes but remain silent as we get closer and closer to the place of my death. I've always had this strong fear of malls.

It's full of people and shops that never have anything that'd I ever wear or want. I'm not about those short skirts or tight shirts. I can wear a dress, but only to church and is has to come past my knees. I wear no makeup and I can't stand any perfume unless it smells like vanilla or some sort of food.

I know, I sound very picky but I like what I like. Everyone in my life has learned that there's no changing me. We pull up to the mall now and Chloe begins to drive around in search of a parking space as I feel my palms start to sweat from nervousness.

Why me? Oh why me? I've been asking that question to myself a lot lately. I laugh softly to myself at that, earning some curious glances from Sam and Emma. I turn away from their looks before staring out the window and leaning my forehead against it.
