Hello, my beautiful angels! I have finally started to publish this story in the hopes of motivating myself to finish writing it. I still have a long ways to write, but now that I have published this story, I will do my best to write the rest quickly. I have it all mapped out and whatnot, I just need to write it. So, shall we begin?

Another day and still no one has adopted me, you thought.  That's it.  I can't take it anymore.  Tonight, this changes.

You glanced at the clock.  It was 6:30.  Just another thirty more minutes until it was dark.  Until you could get away from this place.

You went up to your room and got your duffel bag out before putting all of your possessions in it.  You didn't have much, just some clothes, a flashlight, and bronze key.

You weren't too sure what the key was for, but Elise said that your mother had it with you when she brought you in, so you kept it.  You didn't know if you would ever need it, but it was one of the only things you had of her.

You snuck some money into your duffel bag, along with food and two bottles of water. Afterwards, you changed into some dark clothes so you could blend in with the shadows better.

Just as you finished getting everything prepared, you heard the grandfather clock downstairs strike seven. You gathered your bag and quietly slipped downstairs. You knew that Elise would be too busy putting the little ones to sleep, so you could easily slip out the door.

You cautiously glanced around the wall once you got to the bottom of the stairs, making sure no one was in sight before making a run for the door. You opened it as quietly as you could, slipping out the door once it was wide enough for you to fit through. After closing the door behind you, you turned around and took a deep breath before releasing it.

You looked at the long road ahead of you. You weren't sure where you were gonna go, but you knew you had to get far away from this place. So, you took your first step forward, the first step of many.

As you walked along the roadside, you began to rethink your decision to runaway.

No!  I have to do this, you thought, shaking your head.  You walked on.

It was about ten minutes later when you noticed that a car behind you was slowing down.  You continued to walk on as if you didn't notice anything, but kept a close eye on said vehicle.

"Hey, kid!" a slightly gruff voice called.

You whipped your head around to look at the car that had slowed down next to you, keeping pace with you.  A man sat in the driver's seat.  He had short, spiky hair.  That was all you could tell from how dark it was.  His car was black, and you believed that it was a '67 Impala.  You snapped your attention back to the man when he began to speak again.

"Why are you walking along the road at this time of night?"  He then took notice of your duffel bag and you could see something click in his head.  "Are you a runaway?"

You couldn't help but cross your arms as you came to a stop, making him stop his car as well.  You turned to him as you spoke, "So what if I'm a runaway?  What's it to you?"

"Well," he began.  "It's a tough world out there, kid.  Trust me, I know."

You rolled your eyes and huffed.  "Yeah, whatever.  And my name's not kid."

The man smiled kindly and asked, "Then what is your name?"

"I'm sorry," you stated, "but that's classified information."
