Recap:
"Jerk!"
"Bitch!"
"Asshole!"
The four men looked at you, their smiles slowly fading as they stared at you with eyes squinted in confusion. You shrugged, "What? I wanted my own insult. Don't judge."
Dean was the first to break out in a smile and laugh, and he was quickly joined by Sam and Bobby. You grinned and giggled with them, and noticed that Castiel only smiled slightly. Guess he didn't get amused very easily.
Present:
A few days later, you were sitting at the desk in your room, enjoying the quiet as you read (f/b). You glanced up from your book and looked out the window. You saw Bobby bent over the engine of a car, tinkering on it as Sam stood beside him. Sam held a beer in his hands and periodically handed Bobby the tools that he needed. You saw Sam smile as he said something to Bobby, and then the two broke out into laughter. You smiled and returned to your book.
Not long after, there was a knock on your door. You glanced behind you and called, "Come in!"
The door opened. Dean poked his head inside and smiled before he entered fully.
"Hey, sweetheart," he said as he stepped closer to you. He noticed the book in your hands and nodded towards it as he commented, "So you're a book lover just like Sam. How did I not see that coming?" (A/N: *smirk* You didn't see that coming? *smile fades* *sobs*)
You giggled, put a book mark in the book to save your place, and set the book down on the desk. You turned fully to Dean as you asked, "What's up?"
Dean shifted his weight onto his left leg as he crossed his arms and replied, "Lunch is almost ready. I'm about to call in Sam and Bobby. Cas is gonna join us, too. Do you wanna eat with us?"
"Of course! I don't wanna miss lunch," you said with a smile. You stood from your seat as you added, "I'll be down in a minute."
Dean nodded and mumbled a quick, "Ok," be he headed out of your room and made his way downstairs.
You stood there in silence for a moment before you let out a breath and turned back around. You gently picked up your slightly worn out book and set it on the bookshelf next to the desk. You still wanted to ask Sam if he would take you to a library or a bookstore so that you could buy more books.
You faced your desk again and sat down in your chair. You slowly opened the drawer in the desk and reached inside. Your finger barely touched the key that was inside before you took it into your hand. The bronze metal of the key felt cool on your skin as you examined said object.
"Why would you give this to me?" you asked aloud as if you would get an answer. "What is it supposed to unlock? What's so important that it needed to be kept safe all these years?"
Afterwards, you sat quietly and continued to stare at the key in concentration, as if it held all the answers. You were brought out of your trance when you heard Dean call from downstairs, "Lunch is ready! You coming, (y/n)?"
You blinked and turned to the door as you called back, "Yeah! I'll be there in a second!"
You hurriedly placed the key back in its place and closed the drawer. You stood from your chair and made your way to the stairs. As you began to rush down the stairs, you tripped on your own feet and fell down the stairs. "Shit!" you cried out.
