Chapter 3

I didn't wake up in my bed. I woke up surrounded in chamomile and honey. I opened my eyes slowly trying to blink away the morning haze. The first thing I saw was AJ and Benny passed out on the floor in their own little blanket burritos. I almost laughed, but my pillow was breathing and that seemed more important. I shifted my gaze and looked down the couch to see, Luna not sleeping, but what looked more like a coma. She was snoring, loudly, in the last cushion of the couch with her back draped over the arm. She's something else. My pillow breathed deeply again and muttered something, I turned to see my pillow, or what I thought was a pillow, turn into James. He had a sleepy smile on his face and was deep in whatever dream that was going on inside his skull. My head was on his chest and his arm was wrapped around me, I went stiff as a board instantly. Luna snored loudly again and I winced, I glared at her sleeping form and realized I hadn't moved. Why haven't I moved, I should probably move. Do I move? No, in fact I did the opposite. I snuggled deeper and pressed my nose closer to James chest when I remembered the galaxy that's inked on his skin. I swear my limbs have minds of their own because before I knew it my finger was gently tracing the spot on his chest where I knew the tattoo was somewhere near. God damn it, stop doing that! Bad hand, Bad!

James yawned and I froze. He sank deeper into the couch and snored away and I tried to calm down. I squeezed my eyes tight and I only started to fall back asleep when I heard someone wake up.

The smell of coffee pulled me away from my slumber; I opened my eyes and realized that I'm not on James chest anymore. I lifted my head and realized, nope I was using his lap as a pillow now. "Hey sleepyhead." Luna called from the counter and I opened my eyes a little more to see her handing me a mug of coffee. "God bless you" I said as I took a large gulp from my mug and I turned my head to see James who looked as bad as I felt. "You look like shit." I said and took another sip; "Says you" he snorted and took a sip of his own coffee. We don't mention me using his lap as a pillow and I don't mention about using his chest as a pillow. We did comment on Luna's snoring though. "How can such loud noises, come from someone so small?" James asked yawning into his coffee, "I think she swallowed a lion" I laughed and we both chuckle and drink until our cups are empty. "Where did thing one and two go?" I asked looking at the neatly folded blankets on the ground where the sleeping burritos once were. "AJ woke up, made coffee and waited for me or you to wake up before he could leave but by the time I was up those two losers were chatting away like an old married couple." Luna yawned plopping herself on the floor and turning the TV on. I looked over at James who still hadn't left, "If you still being here is a way of you telling us your homeless... I'm taking you to a kennel." I said standing up and stretching, but James' comeback almost made me want to jump out my window. "Do you talk to all your pillows that way?" He said and I whipped my head so fast I heard my neck crack, "What?" I asked practically yelling and James stood up and looked at me with a smug grin, "nothing" was his response but I called bullshit. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit.

James left while Luna and I started to pack. We decided that we would drive the forty-five minutes to Luna's house just to use her pool. Luna's house is by the beach but she still has a pool. Their logic is A plus work. We decided we were gonna invite Benny because, why not? "Okay so bring sunscreen, uh, extra clothes and I guess we can eat there." Luna said as she walked into the bathroom to take a shower and put her bathing suit on. I would've really enjoyed a shower but we didn't have the time so I just changed quickly into my bikini and threw on the shorts and tank top I bought the same day. I do as she says and packed sunscreen along with another set of clothes. Luna came back out in her swim suit and grabbed a pair of shorts off of her bed and shrugs them on. "Okay, so we're gonna take AJ's van and..." I stopped her before she can continue, "AJ has a van?" I asked and she laughed "Yes AJ has a van!" Luna laughed again continued "We can all fit inside one vehicle now."
