Somewhere in my heart, it's always been you
Whichever road I take, it leads me back here
The journeys I've made all over the world
Hoping a solution might finally appear
I searched the mountains, in cold and damp caves
For something that might just help me forget
I searched the oceans all made of my tears
But I still haven't found anything yet
Over the hills in a place far away
And a city, in which pretentious puppets walked,
A countryside lane with nobody else
Even a magical land where animals talked
I trudged through each of them trying to find something
Or someone to replace the hole in my heart
It was completely fine and unbroken before
But then you decided to tear it apart
I walked home alone, exhausted and used
The remainders of my heart all broken and bruised
Standing outside in the cold pouring rain
Wishing it could wash away this torturous pain
But somewhere in my heart, it's there that I knew
That the only solution has always been you
The hole and emptiness will remain there until
You decide to come back, if you ever will

This was something that I wrote for a school poetry competition, but I didn't end up turning it in. The theme was 'journey' and I was seriously contemplating deleting this, but I reread it and decided I quite liked it.
