"The city's so pretty at night." I mumbled, looking out the window and Eric laughed at me. I turned to look at him and tilted my head in confusion.

"What?" I asked but he just shrugged.

"It's just funny that you say that." He said.

"Yeah well it's pretty." I said turning back to the window.

"Not as pretty as you." He said and stroked my hair. I turned to look at him and smiled.

"Thank you Eri." I said and leaned over to place a kiss on his cheek.

We soon after arrived at Erudite headquarters, my old home.
Eric walked around and opened the door for me and held out his hand.

"Such a gentleman." I teased as I got out of the car, keeping my hand in his. We walked over to Tess, Aaron and Max, who were just infront of us.

"Follow me everyone and remember be polite." He said and gave Eric a pointed look. He walked away and the four of us followed. It was funny walking through Erudite in black clothing. Everyone was staring at us, obviously scared which was quite funny to watch. Eric wrapped and arm around my waist and we walked together, beside Tess and Aaron.

"Everyone is staring at us." I whispered to him and he chuckled.

"Because we're Dauntless." He said and I laughed. We continued walking, to the grand hall I suppose. That was where Erudite would hold any fancy events that happened, but I had obviously never been to one before. When we got there, we walked in. Max was infront with the four of us walking in a line behind him. I must admit, we all looked pretty badass.

"Ah, Max. Welcome." Jeanine greeted us from across the room. Every other faction was here, so we were last.

"Hello Jeanine." He said and gave her a slight hug. Everyone stared at us in awe and I smirked. Eric kept me close as Jeanine neared us.

"Eric, nice to see you again." She said and he nodded to her.

"Hello Jeanine." He said quite dryly.

"Oh Brayden isn't it?" She said and I nodded.

"I must say I was quite surprised with you picking Dauntless. Especially after your brother changed factions." She said to me, a hint of venom in her voice.

"Yeah well here I am and I suppose I succeeded pretty well." I said and she smiled.

"Of course. Well it's lovely to have you all here. Now let's eat if you wouldn't mind." She said to everyone. I walked with Eric and leaned up close to his ear.

"I hate her." I whispered and he nodded in agreement.

"Me too but remember what Max said." He whispered back and I nodded.
We went and took our seats. I was sitting next to Eric, obviously, and Tess. Dauntless were next to Erudite, who were next to Amity, who were next to Abnegation, who were next to Candor and then us again. Everyone all split into their own conversations and I chatted with Eric, Tess and Aaron as Max was talking to Jeanine.

"So Brayden, you ranked first?" Jeanine pulled us away from our chat.

"Uh yeah I did." I said and nodded. She nodded in approval and I heard some whispers around the room.

"Well congratulations I hope being a leader works out for you ok." She said and I smiled sweetly.

"Thank you Jeanine." I said and she turned back away from me. Eric grabbed my hand and held it in his.

"You doing okay?" He asked me and I nodded.

"I'm fine, how about you?" I asked and he shrugged.
