Chapter 31:The Story I Never Knew

You and Zeref were watching the empty where Makarov had just been,before Mest appeared and taken him away.Zeref sighed before looking at you,you met his gaze for a split second before you looked away,the mage's gaze still lingering.

"For the mean time,I suppose I could tell you a story,"he said.

You looked at him,but other than that you offered no resistance,so he continued.

"This story happened a hundred years ago,slightly before Fairy Tail was formed.It was in Magnolia's West Forest where...we met by chance.I was suffering from the Ankhseram Curse.A curse that toyed with the fate of others by robbing them of their lives...but she was intrigued by me,I taught her most of my magic,and at the time,Magnolia had been under the control of a dark guild,"he had a faraway look as he said this.

"That was when it happened,in the midst of the battle,she used a black magic spell that was incomplete,but they won anyway.However,her body paid the price for using that spell...she stopped aging."

"April,Year X 686,Fairy Tail was formed.Year X 690,the end of the second trade wars.It was said that the reason behind the wars was wizard guild interventions.It was when the world of magic decided that guilds could no longee wage wars or be part of any war by drafting a treaty.With that,a short era of peace dawned upon the world of magic..."

"6 years later,I met up with her again,pure coincidence.I found out she used "Rou",she thought her body stopped growing,but she was wrong,she became immortal,just like me...she has the Curse of Ankhseram...She didn't know how precious life is..."Zeref glanced at you,before he continued.

"A curse of contradiction.The more you love life,the more it will steal it from those around you.But if you stop loving,it will stop taking as well.Then,a year passed,and I finally met her again,she wanted nothing more than to die,"he paused to chuckle,"to be honest,I was like that before...in fact,i'm still hoping for the day I get to die,but i've learnt to look at things a little differently now..."

"I told her,that we had an infinite amount of time.I told her I created demons called the "Etherious",and gave them powers beyond those of human capabilities so they could be the ones that'll end me...I still don't know if they actually could,but..."

"I told her I was also making a country,I told her I was emperor there,and that all the people have been made into units,pawns if you may."

"It's the reason I live...I live to die,"

"I want to see my brother and sister,no...I want to destroy them,"

"No...let them destroy me,"

"Huh?My head hurts..."

You watched as he placed a hand to his head,trembling slightly,"Zeref..."

"The world...refuses to accept me...this world,"he fell to his knees and all of a sudden,you felt like you had to hold him...

...embrace him...

And so you did.

"I don't,i've accepted you..."you mumbled,holding him even tighter.

"Y/N...don't...you'll only get yourself killed,just...like..."he choked on his words,unable to get them out.

He finally broke down...

You allowed him to cry...

You allowed him to feel protected by your embrace...

He suddenly hugged you as tightly as you hugged him,"Why do you treat me so kindly?"

"Because I know,no matter what you say,I know...your human,you feel emotions that I know you try to supress..."

He pressed his head against yours and gently pressed his lips against yours,you gently kissed him back before you felt your strength gradually get drained.Once the last of your strength left you,you collapsed on Zeref and blacked out.

He trembled as he held your body,

"The more one loves,the more one will take way from another...

This curse,took her life even when she was supposed to be immune to it's effects."

And i'm still waiting for my goddamn Golbat to evolve into Crobat...

And i'm debating whether I should get an Umbreon or a Vaporeon...
