Hey. I'm Skylar, but you should already know this. If your a Soc, put this book down, right now! But, if your a Greaser, please continue. Most of you all know me as Sky Curtis, little sister of Darry Curtis. Twin sister of Sodapop Curtis, and big sister of Ponyboy Curtis. But off with that. I am just another regular Greaser, with that same ol' switchblade. "Sky!" Two-bit called from the kitchen. What do they not get in the phrase, 'I'm getting dressed'? I sighed, and looked at my outfit for today, jeans, a white crop top, and my black leather jacket that I had gotten from Sodapop on our sixteenth birthday. Plus, my switchblade in my back pocket, which Two-bit had given to me. That was our gang, Skylar, Darry, Soda, Pony, Two-bit, Steve, Johnny, and last but not least, Dally. Pony was the youngest out of all of us, at fourteen. Me, Soda and Johnny were the second youngest, at sixteen. Then, was Steve at seventeen, Two-bit at eighteen, and Darry and Dally at twenty. "What?" I hollered back. "I'm getting dressed!" I heard a muffled reply. The guys knew I was no walk in the park when I was angry. "Where's the chocolate cake?" Pony yelled. I rolled my eyes. Of course, they would disturb me, just to ask where the cake was. "In the freezer like it always is!" I yelled back, and started getting dressed. When I was done, I practically ran out of the bathroom. I knew that if I didn't get out there soon, all the cake would be gone. When I got to the kitchen, I smacked Two-bit over the head, hard. "Owww." He groaned, rubbing the spot where I had hit him. "What's Two-bit moanin' about?" A familiar voice asked. Dally.
"Your girlfriend beat him up for disturbing her when she was getting dressed." Darry said. Dally rose an eyebrow at Two-bit, but said nothing. "Not that way!" Darry basically screamed. "He was hollering at her, asking where she put the chocolate cake." Dally grinned. It felt nice, knowing that they knew I could hold my own. I cracked my fingers, and Soda grimaced at me. "Honestly, Sky," he muttered. "You're gonna break your fingers one day." I smiled sweetly at him. Sure, we were twins. Sure, we got along most of the time. But, he had trouble believing that I could hold my own. I taught him a lesson that day. He still didn't believe me. "Where's Johnny?" I asked. He was usually here by now. "Said somethin' bout goin' to the store to get a coke, or something like that." Steve said. Was he crazy?! Didn't he know a Soc could easily jump him? Sighing, I left after Johnny. I heard cries, and screams, three blocks later. I ran faster, and saw three Soc's beating up on Johnny. I tackled the one punching Johnny repeatedly. He punched me the face, so hard that I tasted blood. He was wearing big, heavy rings. The other two just stood there, stupidly grinning at us. I punched him in the face, and blood poured from his nose, that I was sure was broken. I reached into my back pocket, but was stopped by a swift kick to my ribs. I yelped in pain, and grabbed the foot that kicked me, flipping the person over. I flicked out my switchblade, and held it out in front of me warningly. "Leave." I said, and they ran. Johnny was groaning in pain. The others came quickly. I knew I looked like hell. My top was stained with blood. Darry was shaking his head, like he couldn't believe it. "How many were there?" I spat out the blood in my mouth onto the ground. "Three." I said, wiping my mouth on my sleeve. "God, they just had to do that, didn't they?!" They knew not to interrupt me when I was ranting. A few minutes later, Johnny groaned again. "Get him to the house." I said. Dally raised an eyebrow at me. They knew I was always like this when I was under pressure. "Where are you going?" Darry asked.
"To go get Johnny his coke," I answered. "He ought to have something to drink when he wakes up." Soda rolled his eyes at me, and swiftly picked up Johnny. I started walking to the convenience store down the road. When I got there, I grabbed cokes for all of us. "Two dollars, please." The cashier said. I dug through my pocket, and pulled put the money, and handed it over to him. "Thanks." I said, as he handed me the bag that contained the drinks. I walked back, and Johnny was sitting up. He had a split lip, and a cut across his cheek from the rings. Poor kid, I thought. Already gets beat up enough at home. I handed everyone their cokes, and took a swig of my own, after screwing off the cap. It tasted sweet, like sugar. It must have been awhile, because I had Pepsi just yesterday. Johnny winced when he took a sip of his. "I'm going to shower." I said, before grabbing a pair of clean (Not bloody) clothes from my dresser, and hopped into the shower.
