Chapter 9 - Hey You
(Ian's date)
The sound of the doorbell makes me jump. I glance at the clock. He's five minutes early. I quickly pull on my high heeled (if you could call two inches high) sandals and run downstairs, taking my white purse with me.
For Ian's date I picked out a more casual dress. Even though he has a really expensive car, he doesn't seem like the fancy restaurant type. So I'm wearing a sundress with floral pattern. It hugs my body a little and shows my figure off, but it's still looser than the dress I wore on Friday. I don't want to seem like Katie or Hayley either. I've waved my hair a little, and put some pink lipstick on, matching the pink flowers on the dress.
Earlier today I kind of forced my parents out of the house, telling them how great the Boulevard was, and that they should totally check it out. It took some convincing, but they finally agreed on it and left an hour ago. Like I said before, I don't want them to know I have more than one date. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to do about Aaron, other than insisting he could have a friend over.
I shouldn't have done that. I should have figured he would want some kind of revenge from yesterday. And his favorite revenge: humiliating me.
I stop abruptly in the middle of the stairs when I hear Aaron's, Ian's and Kevin's laughter. They're talking about me, I'm sure. Stupid brother and his friend. They should be grateful! If I hadn't chased Mom and Dad out of the house, Aaron would never have a visit, since he's still grounded! Stupid, stupid, stupid!
I walk slowly down the rest of the stairs, straining to hear what they're saying.
"And then she sat down on the ground, picked up the ice cream and ate it!"
I gasp. He did not just tell Ian about my ice cream incident! I was 9 for crying out loud! How could I have known better?
Besides, I really love ice cream.
I quickly walk out in the hall, glaring at Aaron. He smiles innocently at me. I walk up to him and grab his shoulder, not daring to look at Ian. It's so embarrassing!
"Aaron!" I say firmly. "What have I told you about telling people about the ice cream?"
"I don't know," Aaron says. How dare he pretend to be innocent! "I thought you loved that story."
"You little - " I begin, but Ian interrupts me by dragging me away. I turn to look at him and I can feel heat rise to my cheeks as he smiles at me.
"Don't worry," he smiles. "I think it's adorable."
I blush even more, but smile grateful at him. Then I look at Aaron again, telling him with my eyes that this isn't over.
He just shrugs and leans on the wall. Why aren't he leaving? And why is Kevin staring at me like that? His eyes move up and down my body. Urgh, gross! I'm almost 4 years older than him! But suddenly I get an idea for how to get back at Aaron. He pulled the forbidden ice cream story... Well, then I'm gonna play out his nightmares right in front of him.
Not with Ian here though. I look at him and smile.
"Ehm, would you mind waiting in the car? I have to talk to my brother about something."
"As long as you don't rip his head off," Ian laughs, but he walks outside and closes the door behind him. I look at the closed door. Well, this isn't exactly how I planned on the date to begin.
I shake it off. For now. Instead I turn around and focus on the task ahead. Unfortunately, Aaron and Kevin are gone. They must have escaped the scene when I stayed behind.
