What the hell!

KAYLA'S POV

When Luke came over I tackled him in a hug.

"First of all, OH THANK GOD YOU ARE HERE!!! Second of all, WHAT THE HELL!!! What happened yesterday? And don't you dare lie to me. I've known you all my life Lucas, I know when you're lying."

I know he hates it when I call him Lucas, but I was pissed. He just looked at me with giant puppy dog eyes. All I could see was the sadness and pain in his eyes.

*FLASHBACK STARTS*

Today Luke's turtle died. I don't think it was such a big deal, but it means a lot to Luke. So we had a turtle funeral for "Captain Carl" or so he was called.

Luke looked like he was having a great time, but I could see right through his mask. Only I could see the pain and sadness in his eyes. When we were alone I decided to tell him, he got freaked out and told me to never tell anyone about it.

Ever since then I have always been able to see through his mask and tell when he was lying.

*FLASHBACK ENDS*

Suddenly it hits me.

"Oh Luke, I am so sorry for yelling.... Is it about a girl?"

He just silently nodded and his eyes just grew. The pain in his eyes deepened and it hurt my heart to look at him, he looked like a dejected puppy.

"Does Liz not like her.....?" I ask to see where this will go.

LUKE'S POV

"Does Liz not like her.....?" Kayla asks

I nod silently, not trusting my voice.

"Oh Luke, I am so so sorry...." She drifts off. "Do the rest of the boys like her.....?"

She asks all the questions I dread to answer. She knows me so well it's scary. We have this surreal connection, even though we are both the same age. She knows me better than I know myself.

Now is the time to talk Luke. Tell her, she'll understand it.

So I tell her everything starting from the beginning.

"She was just another fan, but when I met her I felt something different than when I was with other fans. And to answer your last question, they don't like her that much."

I look back at her and Kayla looks at me and assess the pain, or so I assume. She is very good at that.

"I can talk to Cal for you if you want...... What's her name?" Kayla asked me while looking into my eyes seeing the pain that I am harboring inside of my deepest self. That's how much of a connection we have.

I take a shaky breath and tell her "Her name is......"
